Your save seems fine. But the "Newcomers" task shouldn't be "On Hold". You're not stuck.

After you make the repellent. go to the hive and try to "Sneak" up to it.
(you will fail, and be driven of by the bees)
This should unlock/trigger the book again.
you should now be able to to get survival 14

Some times you need to leave the baited trap in a bit longer.
I used Figs or Spiders.

im stuck at that point right after the spider thing with the jessica. Rachel says talk to Jessica but there is only one talk option with jessica and i can't move on
