given i detest puzzles and other minigames in any vn's, if I didn't bother to do them, would it impact my playthrough or do you really need to do the puzzles and minigames?
They literally just give some - honestly, compared to what you get sent by the girls over the chat messages - extremely tame pictures as rewards. It's more just for the fun of it/completionist. Nothing storywise is lost by skipping them. Again, just pictures, and as far as I remember, not even any particularly lewd ones. More just kind of non-canon fun stuff, like some costume stuff, or like "past" girls interacting with "ship" girls, I think. And some minor commentary about the pictures from Paige, I guess. Definitely don't feel bad about skipping them.
Technically, if you don't do the puzzles there is a scene you miss with Paige where she makes herself look like Lauren and gives MC a blow job as a reward. There's some minor dialogue differences based on that later too.

But yes, that has no impact on the story.

next update is going to be the final one, right? do we have a release window? january? march? july?
No window yet, but at least 2 more updates. Pretty sure WildMan said next update will have new flashback scenes, fixes to old scenes, and replacing the original Paige design with a new one in all her scenes before her day 19 glow-up. May also include first few scenes from day 21.

Don't think there's been indication of scenes from Day 21 in the next patch, but otherwise you're right.

Full details of what he'd like to include are below (though he explicitly says not necessarily all of this will make it in next patch):

In October he said he'd be adding a few scenes to the start of Day 21.

I don't want to sound like a hater or anything, but at first, the first few days have terrible writing, i've definitely seen much worse, but it takes me out the immersion because i really like the atmosphere and the concept of the game

Have to agree with you there. It gets much worse. This is probably the most verbose adult game you will ever find. Just so much blah blah, and it's generally middle school porn humor.
Might be a good indicator to quit while you are ahead. :devilish:

i agree it's very verbose. i think paige herself makes a joke "apparently not everybody like reading :("
i also agree on the humor being a bit juvenile. it reminds me how i was in high school. this dialogue can be funny or annoying depending on your age and mood. wouldn't call it 'bad writing' though. the mc is supposed to be talkative and jokey.

some criticism i have is that it's obvious the whole thing was written by the same person. everyone shares the same brand of humor. sasha, gigi, umiko, mc, all blend together, and others aren't too different. all these people are from different parts of the world yet everyone is always on the same page. there are no cultural differences or misunderstandings or fuck ups or "that's kinda creepy" or "i don't understand what you're talking about." everyone has the perfect response ready to go.

camila and ishani's turnarounds feel sudden and forced.

the renders can rarely look hideous, alina and raegan in particular.
paige's original pink skin and zebra hair design was shit, glad it changed.

paige trivia game is bad, glad it's going away. and thanks for the save and load hint, but i should not be expected to remember a girl's entire profile or what color the flowers were in last picture for a nude.

i still like this game and look forward to updates. the story is mostly well paced, and the deduction scene was great. daphne best grill.

I agree with your comment, but i think the main problem with this game is that there are many phrases that are only there to add more words to the game, they don't contribute anything. Often, adding ellipses adds more to the context of the writing and gives the impression that the character has a personality, again, i don't want to sound like a hater, i know that games require a lot of work between updates, and i've donated to many people over time so i know what it entails, but for me the main thing is the text, and what i managed to play felt like it was written by a robot at times

Nah, not even close to most verbose... I can think of another that is now in post-finish retouch phase that have a total word count of 1.768.822! Yup, that is one million seven hundred sixty eight thousand eight hundred twenty two words. In an adult game. With possibility of that number going even higher by the time dev finally decide it's complete.

Granted, it takes some 150+ hours to complete that one and you have a total of 303 sex scenes in it, but most of those words are outside those 303 scenes...

That game also had ten years in Dev and is an actual game, not an AVN with a few choices. On a single play you will probably not see half of its total content. It's definitely an outlier, so I'll stand by my original comment. ;)

Out of curiosity, what game are we talking about here? I doubt I'll play it, but my interest is peaked!

Actually, it's 11 years by now (version 0.1.0 was released on November 22nd, 2014) and yeah, it is an actual game with choices that matter.

It doesn't matter if something has a lot of text, whether it's a video game or a “visual novel” or even a current novel, 10 million words or about 1,000, what matters is that the text makes sense and that you feel like you're really watching a conversation. The summary of this game is that it has some sex scenes that are covered up by a lot of junk text

The Last Sovereign. If you can get past the RPGMaker, it is most excellent. It also was free on Steam all through Development, though they may have started charging now that it's finished. (y)
Oh wow, never heard of it before but from the steam reviews it looks like A Serious Game. Hundreds of hours... Perhaps too many for me in this stage of life? But thanks for the rec!

About that. This is the current page/word count if you combine the Day 1 - 20 SiS scripts into Word.

This excludes laptop conversations, but it includes code and labels (not just words of dialogue).

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the AVN. But The Hobbit + all 3 Lord of the Rings novels are about 555K words combined.

The dev is actually currently working on significant rewrites to Days 1-13 that will be out next update.
