About that. This is the current page/word count if you combine the Day 1 - 20 SiS scripts into Word.

View attachment 5526623

This excludes laptop conversations, but it includes code and labels (not just words of dialogue).

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the AVN. But The Hobbit + all 3 Lord of the Rings novels are about 555K words combined.

The dev is actually currently working on significant rewrites to Days 1-13 that will be out next update.
I guess I'm not surprised. The nightly recap sessions can get pretty involved.

I was working on a tool to extract the structure (labels, flags, menus, points variables) from Ren'Py games, but I hadn't thought about statistics on the dialog. I can only think of one game on here that I play where the dev highlights word count for each release.

OK but Stranded in Space dedicates more words developing characters than describing bushes, rocks and songs about bushes and rocks.

OK, I did look into code and all the potential images and I find out I'm missing about 25 laptop pics... some are probably mutually exclusive due to your choices (waking up Daphne or Nemy, choosing Ariel or Haylee, etc.).

I wonder if anyone bothered making a guide into Laptop convos to see what get you a pic from girls? Because some are obviously missable if you do things in wrong order.

No one knows better than me how many freaking words the game has.

The funny/worst part about it is that I genuinely don't try to write a lot, nor do I try to surpass any word count threshold. There are so many caveats that never get said. WELL, I'M SAYING THEM NOW.

First, the game also has around 20,000 renders and like 90 sex scenes, averaging to like 4-5 animations per sex scene.

So, it's not just a game with a lot of words, it's a game with a lot of everything... which isn't necessarily a good thing, but it's still a caveat.

Additionally, if you look at the majority of the conversations in the game, they aren't "unusually" long compared to other, never-negatively-reviewed-for-having-too-many-words AVNs. It's just that, in keeping with the game's "everything in excess" style, there are dozens of characters with scenes and content.

So, if 20 characters get a single 400-line conversation, that's 8,000 words. If another game with 6 characters does the same, that's only 2,400 words. Ergo, vis-à-vis, math.

The other thing that works against me and is a fair criticism is that I don't do moment-to-moment minor dialogue choices, which help break up the feel of weighty conversations. When you play two scenes of the same length, the one with a few "yeah, I do like when you're naked" dialogue options in between will typically feel shorter.

I've bought your game on steam , I loved it! Especially the chit chat jokes in the morning through the laptop.
I hope one will be translated in italian or spanish to improve my comprehension.

did we ever learn why the mc looks at the time before meeting a girl in flashbacks?
also, the not-portal room mystery will be solved by the end, right?

Just to be clear, my snip of the script word count was not a criticism. As you said, SiS has a lot of content, which is perfectly fine with me. Giving this many LIs proper interaction takes time and space.

I do think it can catch people off guard though when they're used to smaller AVNs with like 5K renders and maybe 150-200K words. But that's a problem of expectations, not execution. :ROFLMAO:

I like your words, funny man!

I like to read and your writing has a clarity, wit, and sharpness to it that I love.

Could there be constructive criticism? Always. Even my most beloved AVNs (this is one) have room for constructive criticism.

But I read these things like novels because if I just wanted porn I would go watch porn, and this is quality. I can honestly tell you that you are a good writer and that the amount of words is not nearly as important as the way they string together, and this shit strings like a motherfucker.

Replaying this game with different choices and can't help thinking again that the ship is a simulation where MC's real life girls were somehow connected together. Maybe through that VR game. The number of girls from "real" life in flashbacks basically matches number of girls on the ship. The theory would explain coincidences like crazy Japanese scientist chicks with tattoos in "both" worlds who both basically called themselves immoral or all girls being extremely attractive. The wake-up choices don't fit though, particularly the 19th day one.

Second playthrough also highlights the Scarlett reveal given that she's the only person NOT providing an earth pic and her somewhat autistic focus bordering on fixation on the medicine subject.

Hi mate, i was one of those who recently criticized the wording, it's not the amount of text itself, but the lack of good syntax, that's all, it's something you surely know. I hope you don't take it personally, it just needs a few details and it will be a very good game.
