VN Ren'Py Stray Incubus [S2 Ch.3b] [IP Studios]

Stray Incubus was the first game I actually started supporting on Patreon, so I'm absolutely gutted to see it being shut down. That being said, as others have mentioned, a lot of us saw this coming from his posts on the Discord and whatnot about the early leaks costing him money.

That being said, if you're relying on Patreon income as a way of living while making a HS/Koikatsu game, unless you hit the jackpot with a huge following like Eternum, you've already doomed yourself to fail.

One thing HS/Koikatsu devs should realize is no amount of goodwill, begging, or yelling will stop your game from being leaked. Expect it. It will happen. If your income depends on it NOT happening, or it only happening after X amount of weeks have passed, you've already failed and it's only a matter of time before you go under. It's sad, but it's the reality of the internet. If F95 didn't exist, it'd just happen elsewhere.

I wish the best for Flynn's family's health, and his own health/mental health. I hope whatever he does in life provides him happiness. And I hope that, maybe someday in the future when his life is more stable, he could start working on Stray Incubus again as a hobby and not a job.

A 2 day delay between the different tiers.

A 2 day delay wouldn't even make it worthy to even consider upgrading to one of the higher tiers to support the dev and to get some fitting benefits. If you suggested that and got mocked... I honestly do not understand what you were expecting.

I think the default that many devs are using are a 9 day delay between the different tiers which is absolutely fine + with some fitting benefits for said tiers.

With your 2 day delay suggestion, you were thinking about how to please the people that couldn't wait 15+ days for their tier to get the release. But what you didn't think about with your 2 day delay suggestion is that it would affect Flynn aswell. As i said at the start of this post. A 2 day delay wouldn't make it worthy to upgrade to one of the higher tiers.

And something that must be understood is that Flynn weren't in a good position to even start a project like this. He really counted on the support the game would get.

I was genuinely concerned when Flynn first DM'd me on Discord about devs not socializing with each other. I mean, we are not enemies here, brother.
But I was happy to see his game being well received. He's one of the few people who lifted my shoulders up when I was mentally struggling, so I'm really sad to see him go.

And yes, I agree with you. This is one of the faces of the industry—leaks. So you have to be mentally prepared for that. First and foremost, that's what I always tell aspiring devs who ask me tips either about HS2 stuff, or what to expect. You'd have to have some kind of thick skin to survive this side of the world.

Just saw the tag. 'Abandoned'?? In shock. It was easily top 3 VN I've ever played. The models, the story, the characters, the animations, the writting... It was so, so good. It's an immense loss for the community.

Even though it has been slowly approaching, seeing it actually happen is so incredibly sad. Stray Succubus (this is not a typo, some of you will understand the reference) is now gone.

Flynn was not just a work colleague to me; he was a friend.
He helped me so much in the early days, and i had alot of fun talking to him. Also thanks to flynn, I had the chance to meet so many other amazing people.
So one final: Thank you so much bro, for everything!

He’s not gone, but unfortunately, he’s now very far away.

Well, like many here, Stary Incubus was one of the first VNs I played and also one of the best, I always expected an update, seeing it disappear out of nowhere leaves a bad taste in my mouth although I understand the whole problem, it's nice to see how Devs from other VNs are also here, I really loved the story I was creating and where it was taking us, I hope Flynn does well in life and God willing we'll see each other again someday.

I've been a patron for maybe a year, because goddamn it deserves it. Might be my favorite VN ever.

I do hope you bring back at least the itch and discord, even if you don't participate in any of this yourself anymore. Even if the game is abandoned now, what's there is still so damn enjoyable and it breaks my heart that people that showed up late probably will never experience this project

This entire situation is shit. I just hope He'll get his private live back on rails eventually and maybe start writing something else if not continue this.

He inspired me to start writing and trying to make things myself. (Though I never continued it.)

Seeing Berkili4 and NiiChan here of who he spoke well of is making me happy and its making me even happier to see he inspired others to create their own works.

The world is cruel, we gotta make our own fun here.

Damn, I saw the ping on Discord and was expecting an update but was met with this. Just the first line of the message already ruined my day. Stray Incubus was one of my favorites and its loss definitely hurt, a lot.

I really hope everything works out for Flynn and while it might be farfetched, I do hope he gets everything in order enough to continue working on this project in the future. It really is sad seeing such a good game being dropped.
