I will say from experience in other media formats, people should keep expectations low, and play these new updates to their own standard, instead of just comparing everything to Flynn, as that will very likely just cause disappointment even if the content is good/decent, since you'd play from a biased state.
Something can be good and enjoyed even if it is not at the level it was before, or has a different vibe.
Not to say you have to enjoy it, just probably best to go in with an open mind or you'll be disappointed no matter what.
Hopefully it will be good, but even if it doesn't hit the same as Flynn's work, shouldn't automatically mean its bad, could just be different. (Though if it is bad then it is what it is lol)

I believe that, generally speaking, people’s expectations for the game are rather low or mixed, which is hardly surprising either. Of course, some are already expressing concerns about whether the game will stay true to the original visual style or to Flynn’s writing tone.
However, as you rightly pointed out, it’s more than likely that these people will end up disappointed anyway if they choose to judge SI through that particular lens. Even if Flynn left them his plans when he stepped away, the new team would inevitably diverge from them at some point, even while trying to stay more or less faithful to his original vision.
Whether that’s a good or bad thing is up to each person to decide, but in any case, things are bound to change. Ultimately, we can only judge the final product, and for that reason, while speculation is running wild, it all remains uncertain without something concrete to go on.
That’s also why I’m holding back my judgment for now, waiting to see if the two new devs prove themselves at the helm of the project. So far, we haven’t seen much apart from a few renders, which, in my opinion, are decent, but not enough to draw any real conclusions. Still, I remain cautiously optimistic, without, I think, deluding myself or getting my hopes up too much.
For now, I’m neither convinced the game will be better in the future nor worse than it was in the past, and above all, it still needs to prove to all of us that this project will actually get somewhere in the end. ^^
I wish the new devs good spirits despite the tough odds, because the task ahead of them seems huge, the chances of success pretty slim at first glance, and at the slightest serious difficulty or misstep, there will be an angry crowd ready to jump down their throats ...
