Is anyone else also experiencing a bug in which the go home/go home and sleep options take you back to the office every time instead? Even the notifications about the rent being due/being seduced by the landlady has the office picture in the background. The only time I'm able to return home is suggesting to my sexual partner to change locations back to my place.
Yes, it's happening to a lot of people. The bug is triggered by you breaking up with a GF. I have a fix on the next version. In the meantime there's a way to fix it by editing the save file. If you are comfortable with it, you can do so by finding your entry (labeled MainChar) and then in the second line or so (field 15) there's a string that would look like "...club;-1;-1;SW|scw00...". Change the first -1 to a 3. Only do this if you already have the apartment. Doing so otherwise will make a mess of things.
While I understand the reasoning behind this, I would prefer a more organic solution, rather than just giving them a skill penalty. For instance, adjusting their opinions so that they like skilled/professional work more than food prep/manual/service work, or some event where they complain about their job, or the owner sees them distracted, doing a half-assed job and asks them what's going on...
We already have many factors to work with (wage, experience, attributes & traits, likes...), adding "job preference/hieararcy" to the equation is a bit redundant, IMO.
Finally, the game itself is designed for, and focused on, certain kind of jobs: there are five clubs, one restaurant, one bar and one diner, but no (visible) bank, Police Station or clothes shop, just to name a few.
Them being distracted/doing a half assed job/etc is what's happening that affects their skill. The exact effects were kind of poorly done so that will be improved on the next version. The big issue it being that a cook with a college degree in Food Prep was getting a negative skill penalty is a problem and that will be fixed.
I have no idea what you mean by the last sentence. Yes, not every possible location in the town is represented. Are you suggesting that there should be a bank, stores (which sort of exist although you can't interact in them), etc. If you can think of reasons to add sexy content into a bank I may do it.
Is there a way to add an npc to the game forcing them to use a specific image set? Like let's say I just added a new set of images to my game, but loaded an old save, is there any type of npc creation I can use to point to said specific image set and have it just work?
Maybe as some sort of job hiring event or something?
EDIT: Another idea. Alternatively is there a way to permanently removed an npc from the game without ruining everything in my save file? (I could combine this with the option to add 3 new random characters until I get the new content I wanted into my save file?)
There's ways to do but they are too involved and risky to try an explain. Easier just to find an NPC that matches the image you want. You can remove someone for good for the most part by editing the save file and on their Person record where it says avail, half_done or done change it to away. That will make them essentially leave town. They may come back if they have a reason too, like they were scheduled for some event in the future but otherwise they will stop being able to be interacted with.
Is there a console command to do something like list all valid image folders? I feel like some of my image folders might be getting ignored, I went from having 15 options to assign my sister to 7 options to assign my sister somehow after ADDING folders to my list of image packs...
edit: Oh it seems getting an older sister or younger sister is random. so I guess that explains it.
Look at the debug log file. All the image folders being read will be listed at the beginning of the debug log file. But your sister is of random age +/- 4 years yours.
In the options the "younger" probability option, is this the setting to make npc's spawn younger than the MC? Or just younger than average? I'd think younger than average would be better than younger than MC? But given how the sisters work I think "younger" might always mean in relation to the MC?
It's to make them be younger than average. So when a character is being created, the game selects an average age. Depending on that settting, the average age will be lower or higher. For example, when creating a commissioner, the average age may be 40, but the younger setting may bring the average age to 37. That may still generate a 53 year old character but the odds are lower than before.
The sisters and most story characters follow a different process to pick their ages are not tied to that other setting which is meant for random characters.
Is there something I'm missing to get someone to run for commissioner? I've gone through 2 elections where I've gotten someone to agree to run and they'll vote for what I want because I sponsor them. On the third election, there's no option to ask someone to run anymore. The people I talk to are 21 and live in the appropriate district. I've gone through the entire contact list of people that live in that district, and the option wasn't there
There are a couple of other restrictions, like they can't be slaves and they can't unique or story characters. You also need to wait at least 60 days between such offers. So it is possible that if you sponsor a person in one period and the next election comes up pretty fast after you may still be blocked from doing so. Elections are usually spaced out more than 60 days so that would be rare but it can happen.
Is there any reason why this isn't working for me? My energy remains 0, do I have to move to another location to improve it after the cheat? Or does it only refill if it's above zero to start with?
Stamina is your current energy level (that's an internal name and it's the wrong one, it should have been energy). Which goes up and down based on what you do each day. So if you set it to 99, it will soon be used up and be something else. When you sleep it gets reset to your default level that's based on your endurance. That's the one you want to change if you want a permanent energy boost. Set your endurance to 99 and when you sleep you will wake up with the maximum possible energy.
