As long as the game size isn't exploding, I think the dev should use whatever they feel comfortable with. I played the first game and remember it had a decently animated poker table which might be easier to do in Unreal? Unfortunatly I haven't worked with Unreal or Ren'py before (only Unity), so I wouldn't know.

Make a remake with new models and animations, please! AI needs to be improved, but I understand its too complicated for such projects. Good game thanx.
