Well part of it was FOW's rep. But even so it got a lot of funding just from people that wanted a proper adult game. Something that wasn't just match-3 gameplay or another Renpy clone.
Yeah the only other games ive seen come close and still miss by a lot are the Seed of the Dead games and Roundscape.

If it fits the character, I don’t see it being an issue. And given we won’t be seeing the scenes themselves until the full release, we can’t garner much just from a single preview. For all we know that’s in the foreplay section, or they’re just background dressing while it’s her and the captain.
The ending of the story? Do remember this is the stuff before the climax of the game. Still got a galactic empire to tumble after all
You can be ok with that, but even if it fits the character - it goes against dev's comments in kickstarter that it was said that people will be able to "not see" certain fetish content they don't want to see. As devotion questline and conclusion is not a pandora scene, which people can simply ignore.

Now that is not true. There was certain discussion, when kickstarter was still active, regarding certain fetish contents. And there was confirmation that people will be allowed to avoid that type of content, if they want. Devotion cinematics concentrating on that content really not a thing that was to be expected (though I was afraid that it will happen - especially, when dev mentioned that full scenes will be added only with 1.0 release)
