A lot of the scenes currently in Pandora a lot of people doesn't want to watch. And they certainly wouldn't want it forced uppon them in the storymode. The same scenes is what some people expect from FOW based on their earlier work. Pandora offers you the benefit of unlock and watch additional lewd stuff based on your interest and fetish rather than get served up things you have no interest in. Imagine every lewd game and porn site you visited only served you fetish's and things you hated rather than give you a choice...

Some people approach the whole Mantic thing as they would with a hate for ntr, or whatever...
"Sex content should be always optional to not disturb anyone, so it's better not added directly into the story" is such a bad excuse in my point of view.

It just need the game to be advertised consequently and if people are not happy with that, then they simply don't buy the game".

Even F95 use something as simple as "genre tags" to show everyone what's in the game and it works well.

When I see tags I don't like on F95, then I don't try the game, and I'm at no point disturbed. It's marvelous !

The game is cool. Maybe because I am just playing it from here, outside the kickstarter/steam drama, but I like it so far and quality wise there is a lot to enjoy.

Unrelated: Is there a way to watch the new cinematics with an old save?

Lewd games is such a small niche as it is. Offer diversity and not force content uppon players, but rather give them a choice more likely to attract more people. More people buying the game, better for FOW.

Lets inject all kind of fetish's into the story that you hate and would never want to watch. How would that make you feel about the game? Just look at games on the site here that suddenly force ntr content in a game and what shitfest that turn threads into.

As I said situation would not happen to me since I wouldn't download a game which has content I dislike.

But here some easy solutions :

1) Only make vanilla content if you aim to reach a large audience. Movie makers that want to make a PG13 movie know that they can't add hard or trash content. Same thing should be applied for Subverse.

2) Using the reward system I described previously, use vanilla content as a reward for the main quest line, and use "problematic content" for side-quest.

Quick example : An optional side quest for Lily in which you aim to retrieve mantic DNA. Dialogs before starting the quest heavily implies that Lily gonna get railed by mantic if the quest is successfully done and if player does complete this quest, then his reward is indeed seeing lily getting ass blasted by the Megalodong.

But that would be parts of gameplay that wouldn’t get played then. Not a great approach for the developers. It’s already as optional as it can be, you can filter out the xeno scenes, and the cards are so blurred out, you can’t even see a hint of the scene before you unlock them, so no one’s scarred for life because their waifu is being independent :p

Use the scene viewer in the captain’s quarters, they’re generally the last parts of a chapter.

ACT 1:
- Return To Base (Demi)
- No Teabagging Today (Lily)
- Map Complete (Kili)

ACT 2:
- Galaxy Wide Gaping (Elasha)
- Taron's Ready (Taron)

Again this dumb argument. This is such a moronic excuse I keep people saying but it has nothing to do with the reality of video gaming. The vast majority of people who purchase video games don't even finish them, let alone go for 100%. There will ALWAYS be content in a video game which is not seen by everyone and that is a fact of life.

I don’t think it is, particularly when it comes to games with level systems, ideally players are gonna want to be as strong as possible, less you’re intentionally challenging yourself.

If ya need further proof, just look for how many times people ask for an indicator as to what systems they’ve cleared. They want to do everything.

Allowing the player to skip content he doesn't want to see work wells with my system too.

I'm not talking about requiring sex scenes to all show characters having a whole speech about the plot of the game while they're engaged in physical activities. It's just that those scenes need to be properly introduced A. K. A "linked to the story of the game".

I already said that for now, recruitment scenes are probably the best ones since they are rewarding the player for completing a whole series of missions beforehand.

If it was possible, I would like every sex scenes to follow the same pattern, which of courses means that sacrifices has to be made in terms of the quantity of sex scenes.

Quite a difference between a story driven game, that lead on you a journey through the game, and a game where you can do whatever you please. It's like compare apples to oranges. There is a difference between complete a game and complet all achievements and fluff a game might have. (like gather enough points to unlock all "extra" scenes in Subverse right?, its called optional).

Well, let us know when you got a game to showcase your system. Whatever FOW does, is their system, and we got no say in that. Your choice is if you want to play it or not though.

I feel like that’s wishful thinking at this point, as that would likely take a lot of script rewriting. But we know they’re working on overhauling the Pandora and bar dating systems, so the future is still unclear at this time.

I know that it's wishful thinking, that's way too late now. Too much of the game has been done yet.

That's why I hope loyalty quest will be a success.

Damn :censored: This sounds so freakin obvious and simple, but the devs decided to go genius... Honestly it feels like SFOW guys never played any other h-games so they don't even comprehend such basic things.
Also yeah, I'd prefer less amount of sex scenes, but with at least some connection to the plot/quests/dialogues and with 2-3 additional camera angles instead of having tons of them most of which I skip because they either related to ntr or just use a shitty camera angle...

That's why I hope loyalty quest will be a success.

Something that might blow your mind.....

Porn movies often get shoot in a "softcore" and "hardcore" version. Why do you think they do that? To reach a bigger audience and make more money.

Also, Subverse is not PG13, or any other lewd game on Steam or this site for that matter. To make that comparison is rather silly.

So why should they base their game concept and mechanics on other lewd games out there? Majority of the games out there is just a shallow bluecopy of each other, and story telling is a joke most of the time.

If you prefer less sex scenes, don't watch them? No one forces you to unlock anything in Pandora, you can just play the story and think happy happy thoughts right?

Because there is some "basic" rules that have to be followed if you want a game to be considered as a good game.

Trying to be different is not automatically a good idea.

Nearly everybody knows that immersion is important for a porngame. Because if it wasn't, then people wouldn't play the game. People who don't care about immersion either just download the gallery or just consume other kind of porn., they don't "play", they "watch".

And since immersion is important, then you need to make sex content more believable which go through context and story telling.

Even games which are not porn focused do that. Sex scenes are not random on Mass Effect, they are all understandable and explained.

No, a game is good because you find it good. And individual taste and preference goes a long way here. I can like games you don't like and the other way around. I like RPG, RTS and similar games, but that doesn't mean I like every RPG game there is, just because its a RPG game.

Some games might have serious issues that make them basically unplayable. Crashes, bugs and so forth. But clunky mechanics and features is something you can work with if you find the rest good.

There is no 10 pt check list a game need to be based on to qualify as a good game.

Trying to copy the success of one game doesn't make the copy any success. Look at all the Battlefield and Call of duty games. You got a few good ones and a lot of steaming turds.

MAJORTY of the games on this site lack immersion. And the ones that try real hard, get thrown shit at for not deliver enough lewd stuff fast enough.

I guess you never watched a porn clip, you need to watch a entire "feature porn" movie with an actual story right? Because you need context?

It's obviously too late now, but yes, an optimal situation from the very beginning would have been the Pandora system to not even exist.

Instead you got fewer (but longer) sex scenes, all linked to the story.

That's what Studio Fow is aiming for with the final reward of their "loyalty quests" but this will be only 1 cinematic for each girl.

My preference would be to have sex scenes always linked to the story and used as rewards for completing missions or reaching some point of the main quest.

It could be like :

- You recruit the girl : 1 sex scene
- You complete a side-quest mission related to the girl : 1 sex scene
- You reach a certain point of the main quest in which the girl is important : 1 sex scene

And so at the end it looks like maybe 5 (1 - 2 minutes) sex scenes for each girl instead of a huge numbers of loops. At the end you got the same amount of sex content, but it's just concentrated on fewer scenes.

Of course you get way less diversity regarding sex content, and it will be necessary to make choice for each girl. But it could also be a good way to reinforce the personality of each girl, like :

- Lily having 3 of her 5 scenes involving Mantic.
- Ela having mostly anal content
- Killission being on top on most of her sex scenes

So on, so on...

and you conclude the game with a 5 minutes reverse Gangbang scene involving the MC and his whole harem of course.

That would be my idea of how sex content should be implemented into the game.
Ya all the regular sex could have followed this route and that would have been a good thing.

I also wouldn't have minded having some encounters that you could unlock that might have been fetish aimed (anal, etc. as examples) where once unlocking it, an encounter would occur on the ship with the desired girl that would be for that specific fetish. Would have been a way to allow players to manage the in-universe canon when it came to what's happening sexually with the girls. SFOW could have then implemented the full NTR stuff (for example the famously described encounter with the Captain walking by the lab and hearing Lily getting railed by a monster) that some people really wanted without impacting people who just wanted stuff with the Captain.
