Well the thing with SU is that they’re a smaller team for one, they have to do a lot more to emulate the style of the cartoon they’re adapting. And of course they also decided to remake the entire game while simultaneously continuing the current version, so they’re actually doing 2 games at once. Which is why it’s taking so long.

Subverse’s devs have stated they’re hoping to hit 1.0 this year. My personal prediction is March-ish next year. Which would still be amazing as that’d only be about 3 years in early access.

That isn’t likely to happen. To quote ol Syndrome from the Incredibles, once everyone’s super, no one will be.

Basically if every scene had the same features, none would stand out. The normals make the premiums stand out, and the premiums will make the devotion climaxes (which will be full 3-4 minute animations) stand out.
sounds like somebody is just lazy to make it properly to me though. I can repeat again, scene without a climax or text is not a scene. It's just no different from some random pixiv animation. There are many many other ways to make other scenes special. So yeah, lazy af I guess, that's a shame. I guess the game is only good enough to pirate it, see the animations using full save and delete it from the hard drive shortly afterwards haha(out of curiosity, not to fap, because most of the scenes are dead pan animations without proper climax). Well, not the first game like this and not the last either

I’d love to think so too. I honestly really wish that was the case, but they deliberately made sure to not reference any specific scenes from Pandora during the story to keep it ambiguous. People who dislike the “NTR” scenes(which they are not, I agree) can simply decide thats not canon and never happened but only MC sex did. Others can decide everything that happens in Pandora, happened in the story.

Ultimately, there is no factual consensus, and that makes none of it real or canon to me. Its actually more plausible that Pandora is just some hyper realistic VR machine the captain plays with on his time off.

Seeing as FOW has always been about the extreme monster sex stuff, I can totally understand fans and supporter got disappointed when they saw this. FOW was too chickenshit to stick to their guns and wanted to attract the harem self-insert audience out of greed but ended up just ruining the whole nsfw aspect of the game with this. That is my opinion of course…
I mean it is still monster sex. Just consensual unlike the Kunoichi films. It’s more in line with Mila Red Riding Hood, which also was more light hearted and fourth wall breaking.

During its early dev diaries it was explained the sex was going to be on the lighter side, not dark like say Claire’s Quest. Considering this is your sole project and only thing bringing in income, you wouldn’t want to chance doing something extreme and getting nixed from steam. Pandora was also detailed well before early access, so anyone disappointed just didn’t do the research.

If they had an unlimited budget and all the time in the world, sure. But they don’t.

It’s very easy to look at it from the outside and be like ‘well they could just do ____’

I’d suggest downloading SFM or Blender, grab some models from SFMLab or Smutbase, and try making something yourself. Then try animation, then try designing cum and getting it to move properly (liquid physics are sooooooo fun).

Then multiply that effort by 400 (40 scenes per waifu in Pandora), accounting for various body types and positions, in addition to the eventually lengthier devotion scenes. And all the cinematic cutscenes on top of that.

I used to be like you. But then I got some perspective trying it myself. But these guys, as well as most of the creators on here, aren’t lazy.

Save that term for the ones that pump out asset flip games on Steam.

Can't wait to try it out. I'm always down for some Sci-fi games.

EDIT: It's not good. Plenty of better games that do porn and story much better.
It's probably not your cup of tea then. As someone who's followed Studio FOW for some time and bought the game, I'm loving every update. It's so deliciously over the top. Plus, it's a lot of fun. And the animation work is absolutely gorgeous. Oh, and the actual gameplay is stellar well. I just really enjoy this game. One-handed and two-handed. <3

EDIT: Just realized I replied to a two year old comment... ^^'

Is that actually plausible? It sounds extremely inplausible to me. These characters are constantly talking about sex, draining each-other and talks about uses for the monsters and "research purposes" etc. The sexual connotations are definitely there. I get that you'd like all sex scenes nailed down within a narrative context, but why not just take the sex you like and leave it there? They may do branching story telling one day, but that's extremly costly and they are not that rich. Straight up.

As far as I'm concerned, all of the sex is canon. Why? Because that's more fun. I don't really see them putting out a narrative context within which it's actually implausible that these sex scenes have occurred. If anything, they seem very much oriented around making them plausible and that's enough for me. I get bored by the idea that it's not canon, and I simply don't see how you can view it as being plausible that the Pandora scenes are all VR scenes, that's some real nonsense right there.

Studio FOW was very straight forward about the tone of this game, they have literally never been dubious and they hold no responsibility to the fans to create something they never actually promised. If people want to complain because they "got their hopes up" based on nothing but the studio's history in spite of what Studio FOW published in the kickstarter that's on them, not Studio FOW.

If you’ve done everything else, there should only be one system that has a quest marker on it.

Side note: the game does have a wiki of its own you can use for info. Folks are pretty quick to add to it:

I held up to play the game until its full release but I do watch and read the thread every now and then and the last few pages discussion left me concerned.

So all the sexy time between the MC and girls is not canon because they are outside of the context of the scene never mentioned again?
Isnt that like every other game on here as well? Like unlocking repeatable scenes are a staple in porn games.

Also I did not get the argument with the climax at the end of a scene.
So there are scenes that are just a few frame animations like I dunno a girl getting railed form behind or MC getting blowed and the scenes cuts after some loops?

These are just impressions I got from the outside.
Would love if someone would clarify :HideThePain:

Last Update was underwhelming... At least for me since I have it at steam but those who do not pay can enjoy this game!

There are two types of scenes in Pandora, the normal ones that are looped animations (time varies), while the premium/space whale (backer requested scenes) scenes are controllable by a speed bar, and have a climax ending.

They’re categorized and unlocked entirely by choice from scenes with the captain, to the crew, to mantics and other lifeforms, futa scenes, solo scenes with themselves or toys, and tentacles

There will also eventually be full animations that go for 3-4 minutes with each waifu after their devotion mission is complete.

The silly debate over their being canon is that the mantic romping is only ever alluded to, and isn’t thrown in your face during the story. The only sex scenes during the story thus far are the recruitment scenes when each waifu joins the crew, and the porn video defense mission with Elaisha.

Last Update was underwhelming... At least for me since I have it at steam but those who do not pay can enjoy this game!
While this one was shorter than others, this was mainly because there isn’t any more nebulas to introduce, and because of the nature of early access. This was another slice of an overall very big pie.

And they’ve already noted the next update will have more things to explore again.

There literally is nothing with the same quality that subverse has and people will still find a way to bitch. I'm honestly surprised it updates as quick as it does because considering the quality and the nature of this part of the industry I'm surprised were not waiting 6 months between waifus.

The longest gap between updates was 7, which was the initial one that irked a lot of people. But once we heard why exactly it took so long (hiring new team members and getting them acquainted with the project, as well as their lead game developer taking paternity leave), that was pretty understandable. And since then everything's been hitting on a regular 3-4 month period.

And yeah there really isn't anything to this level, much like FOW's films back then were incomparable to what any other animator was doing at the time. People love to compare this to Wild Life, but that game's been looking nowhere near close to complete, despite pulling in 6 figures monthly via Patreon. They even had the gall to try a Kickstarter of their own (which failed to meet its goal).
