Unreal Engine Completed Subverse [v1.0] [Studio Fow]
Well, I.... couldn't even get pass the tutorial Pandora scene. The controls were so ^&*(. Controller scheme is complete $%^&, unintuitive and unexplained Pandora controls. There is some way to hide the slider(SLIDER, NOT UI), and I had no idea how to bring THAT back. To clarify, it's not that I couldn't get pass the scene, but that I couldn't enjoy it because the system is $%^&. Game probably going on the shelf for ...Awhile.

I like Lazy, but his stuff is also super repetitive with largely the same pov stuff with slightly different positions. And probably not the stuff old FOW fans would look at anyway.

Just want to note the game does not properly support controllers yet. They only work in ship combat
mhmm. There's nothing more to say. For me, this game failed at playability, so I don't even need to rate anything else because I couldn't play it, and also unfollowing thread.

Yeah I was looking at the ratings and I was like 2 star? really? This is the most well-made game on here.
It actually has a proper bullet hell minigame, a turned-based combat, with well done 3d models, really good animations and proper VA. Apart from some of the Japanese games, this is as close as we have to an ACTUAL game if you know what I mean.
Half the VNs on here are absolute garbage with reused 3D models from 2002, no animations, no voice acting and look downright disgusting. You'd have to pay me to play them.
I get being mad that it didn't deliver as much as it was promising but
1. that's marketing like every other game, welcome to marketing
2. It's the first of it's kind to attempt AAA level, so for the 4 kickstarter backers on here: you knew were investing in uncharted territory BUT you also have to know that thanks to you this actually gives hope for other studios to make good shit - same way every other advancement (cars, phones...etc) is expensive and crappy at first then improves and cheapens. Point is, that's part of kickstarters. Sorry and thank you? I guess?
3. Unlike some other patreon creators, they released a full game and didn't just sit around collecting money for years. This level of product is what's expected from a team of that size. If you look at all your favorite animators, they released the same amount (or even less) of animations in that same time-span with close to the same amount of money. Except they didn't have a VAed script and a game built around them. The animations are not that much different in quality either.
IMO thinking Subverse is "bad", especially when compared to other games on here is just fucking delusional. If I had the money to buy this game a million times over, so that they kept making more high quality games and we could leave all this rpgmaker/renpy dogshit behind, I would.
The problem is, we are here not for actual games. We are here for porn. And subverse failed to make itself a porn game.
I can play a much better tactic game, much beter bullet hell game, read some questionable quality harem novel and then fap to short clips on rule34. And that will be kinda, better experience.

Respectfully, it's okay. As someone who's played before this 1.0 I feel a bit conflicted how the pandora scenes haven't increased as much as they're saying they have. It would've been nice if they have given the choice of removing mc/change face/see through/xray/etc if feels like they just were done with it and wanted to put something out. Its good they aren't done yet, but it feels a bit lazy which is hard to say when this is a game that's out there in comparison to others. It was very disappointing though seeing as the characters in the pandora scenes don't have equal premium or space whale scenes. I don't like how there are more standard scenes than premium/spacewhale scenes. I appreciate what they added, and understandably they did lose workers here and there. The space combat was unbelievably boring and tedious, I found solace in the ground combat for some reason. I skipped a ton of animations cause gahdamn this game was a yappaton. I would suggest to download a full game save instead of playing if you want to fap cause the scenes are stellar, unless you're a game connoiseur. Fap and return later.
TLDR: Good scenes to fap to, download full save game cause whole game tedious asf. Update was nice but lacking. Check out the Captains computer for recordings and pictures there's also archives and cinematics there in the bar there is also a gallery. Welp see you next update.
Edit: Changing okay to not bad. Forgot about the devotion quest animations and hearing the girls fapping in the recordings in the captains quarters. So its Pandora scenes, archives for the extra steamy devotion quest animations/cinematics, and captains desk recording of all the girls in your ears. I wish they added scrolling to the animations for the devotion quest cause in case we want to go back to a certain point in the animation. But yea nah the story I skipped that shit like yappington but stayed if the girls were on. Not bad to say the least.

There's a lot of slop in both NSFW and SFW games, so using the few you personally focus on as the widely general norm says more about you than anything else. There are still very few AI games on here and none of the top ones use it. The only problem we have in all honesty is developers not finishing their games. But calling ones like Summertime Saga or Wildlife or whatever low effort and AI is silly.
I've already written my review on Subverse, but hearing some of you name this "the best game on here" genuinely makes my head hurt. While it's different for sure, that's setting as low a bar as AI is lmao. Its gameplay loops are incredibly shallow and are outdone by a ton of other games. The story and writing are abyssal despite the game basically being a VN. But that's fine, it's a porn game. Well, it's just alright there, and it's almost all just unlockable gallery fluff.
I'm not going to say it's as bad as an asset flip or whatever, but IMO Subverse deserves its score and it's not just this site that thinks so. They themselves have also basically admitted it was a flop, but it doesn't matter because they got paid out anyway from kickstarter, their diehard patreon supporters, and early sales. In the end, it's an okay game with fairly boring and uninspired pron that doesn't have anything to do with the game most of the time.
There's a reason why people like a lot of the other games on this site more and I'm sure what's so hard to understand about that... seems to me you're just personally attracted to this specific game for some reason, and I get it. Even the worst movies/games/etc have their diehard fans, but let's be honest. You're in the minority here and elsewhere, lol.

This games biggest mistake was trying to be a game first, and failing to be a good one. The porn came second and it suffers hard for it (pandora has nice animations, but they are short/looped and have no context so after a single watch no point in ever watching them again). So for people who wanted a good game they aren't really getting that, and for people who wanted porn they aren't getting it either.
