The reviews for this game blow my mind. Like this game is on a level 99.9% of the games here will never reach or achieve.

I get the criticism that there's not enough sex scenes during the story telling - but I disagree. There's the right amount - because this isn't a fucking porno story. They really tried to have a compelling story in a sex-crazed universe. I don't know, it really worked for me.
Imo, the problem is that the target audience is too wide. When I first heard of the game, Studio Fow was trying to advertise it not just a porn animation, but a decent game too. I think Nutaku, while have no affiliation with this, was trying to push something similar in the same time frame, so there are some that wants to critics this not with a "porn game lenses", but actual game review lenses. Old Fow enjoyers, on the other hand, are spoil by their past work and expect it to be at least as good or better then their movies. Given how big the wave that patreon/start-up & how well know it is, there are just a lot of expectation from way to may different audience.
it's still a complete travesty that their game for the scenes it's all pre rendered and does not include the basic interactive gameplay from illusion games (tons of sex positions, full 3d navigation, fluids, etc) and Illusion accomplished that with way less budget.
They totally squandered the budged on mediocre vanilla action/tactic gameplay that it's the last thing people care about in fucking porn game
Here's an example of wide audience. Reilynn think that "This is not a porno story", and focus on the story aspect of the game. While I do follow a variety of game on F95, most of it are gameplay instead of VN, stuff like deckbuilder, army/party trainer, bullet hell, etc. In this case, I was looking forward to the gameplay the most, but also have expectation toward the porn, as it is Studio Fow and I have no doubt on their lewd based on their impressive portfolio. Akastyr, on the other hand, wonder why they even add (mediocre) gameplay in a porn game.

There is 0 chance of this game getting high score with all the aspect they try to cover at the same time.

Woaw the new update absolutely SUCKS BALLS.
Who in their right mind will waste 3h in their boring grid/space combat to reach wave 70 ? there even achievments to go to wave 100 ???
There's not even a single roguelite element to make it more bearable and go faster.

Did they really think it would be fun ? all of this for what... a single skin ?
I just don't get it... I'm genuinely flabbergasted.
Please tell me I misunderstood or missed something.

The thing about fourth wall writing is that you have to give it breathing space to rebuild before you tear it down again(break it). And once you have broken it down, it will never be as good as you did it the first time. Some might reference Deadpool, but he works because NOBODY believes him but the readers. In Subverse everybody acts like there is no fourth wall, so it pulls the audience out of the narrative.

This game was given a ton of promises by its own developers to be the first "AAA" porn game. It had a great success in its Kickstarter. It even had some media attention when it was gathering a following. We didn't put this "high expectation" onto StudioFOW, they did.

Basically, it doesn't matter how well-built your ship is. Or if you have the best crew in the world. If the captain does a poor job then you will either hit snags or sink the whole ship. It's one of the biggest reasons why modern AAA games fail nowadays. So in a ironic twist Subverse kind of fulfilled that prophecy.

I am just thoroughly disappointed as one of the Kickstarter backers years ago.

Disappointing update, new girl isn't really that good looking, would be better to get more scenes with others (cybernetic x-ray scene for Demi, more crazy bulges with the small one, maybe slime/transparent skin, new scenes with FOW chan don't even have a single good xeno one as far as bulges go... shame)

There were many feedback requests asking for a repeatable/endless challenge mode. It was delivered. Pretty simple answer.

It's one thing to listen to community and take ideas, but then you've got to think how to actually implement them in a fun or interresting way.
It's with mistakes like this, that you see how making a game is not that simple of a deal.

endless mode doesn't mean hours of non-stop numbing gameplay. You gotta have some sense of progression, evolution, and especially randomness in powerups and enemy encounters. Each runs shouldn't feel so similar, otherwise there's no point in trying more than once.

And it should have a good pace so it doesn't actually takes 3 hours to complete. I know because that's what it took my friend to do it on the space combat challenge. He told me he had to open youtube on his second monitor to make it more bearable. I mean come on... you know you've failed as a game designer when players resort to this...

Kind of liked the game but this disapointed me a little bit.

progression, evolution, and randomness in powersup and enemy encounters...sooooo the entire game up to this point?

Also the mode uses all enemy types in one go instead of just one per scenario on the planets throughout the story, that's pretty much the epitome of randomness.

You are misunderstanding.
I'm not talking about the poor enemy variation. It's not thrilling to wonder if I'll get an enemy that shoot lasers in a trident or a cross shape in the next few seconds.

I'm talking progression and randomness in the combat flow, randomization in weapons and powers you get, the upgrades, the buffs and penaltys you or the enemies could get.
I know there's already a global upgrading system for the ship, but how about getting one tied specifically to this endless mode, with some new perks that add a little more variety than just a x% of more damage or shield, and that you'll get to upgrade from scratch on each run with possibility of trying different builds.

I'm describing basically any decent roguelike game.

I know that I might be asking for a lot, and that would require A LOT of work. That game never intended to be anything alike to begin with. I mean, the foundation of the game is too poor gameplay-wise to suddenly make it revolutionnary.
But that's unfortunately what you have to deal with if you want an endless game mode to be fun.
Or you could waste your time building a half-assed endless mode instead of working on other aspects of the game.

And Again... It should not be this long. There isn't even a way to stop and resume a run, so it's an abberation to require the player to play 3h long, especially when it's that boring. That should be a choice from the player.

Oh well, maybe we can hope for a better game in the future if they learn from their mistakes.

At least you can cheese it with Fow by getting her sacrifice damage high enough and just spamming the map-wide

I have returned. Subverse 1.1.0 Ready-to-fap save (Every scenes, every outfits unlocked)
This straight up does not work. I followed the correct address in local Data. I deleted all my previous saves. I put .sav at the end. I even turned off steam cloud. It does not unlock the new content or pandora scenes or outfits.

Ok so, I just saw all the Fow-chan pandora scenes online, and I have the impression they are not at the same level as the previous animations. Some of them look kinda stiff, I don't know how to describe it.
I also expected to see her getting more mantics. She's the definition of lust herself, but her scenes look kinda vanilla when compared to other girls' scenes.

In general, I would say that if you are not a fan of the gameplay or the story, and is planning to download the game again just because of the new Pandora scenes, better to see them online. Not worth the wait and the storage, in my opinion.
