Just wait a few decades until the story reaches the space age, and we'll see Zion's skill with science fiction settings.
Actually the time span between the bronze ago and the far future are several millennia. X3 In the prologue it is stated the earliest ancestor they detected was 9000 years ago. Quite the time span. :O

So, do you intend on using an party system for SC in the distant future? Since it's kind of tricky for one guy to do everything in an RPG because all it takes to lose is being stunlocked with paralysis or forgetting to equip Iron Will. Could probably justify it as "one of our experienced hunters has failed his duty and we can't afford to train more on short notice, so here's your new partner with strict orders to exorcise the demon if she starts riding you." Or an master-apperntice deal from Star Wars that'll eventually get an tragic end, probably through being forcibly separated.

It's just something that's been on my mind ever since I go through with the last Bravely Default game.
Depends.

I prefer to keep things personal for the character. It adds more flavor to each battle as the succubus will tempt *you*.

Not to mention that a single Adalon Hunter is more than enough to defeat a succubus. A party led by a hunter can easily overwhelm her.

There might be instances however, that you will command forces against your enemies, specially in the second Era, that will be very war-oriented, since it's basically the crusades Era. During that Era you will command troops against other troops, but even then, succubi battles will be one on one.

I meant decades in real life. At the current rhythm the Bronze Age should be done in 2027, the Crusades in 2033, the Industrial revolution in 2039, and the modern day in 2045.

You missed the point. Zion might want to start and end eras when the time is right. So you must wait a few thousand years until the next chapters start because he sticks with the lore that was told in the prologue.

Haven't you realized that Daddy Zion is immortal and always relaxed when it comes to the question how long all chapters will take? :p

Hm, something similar like it is handled in the game Shuggerlain, where you have battle phases with different abilities and decisions to make, that will influence your troop power and the outcome of the battle?

That would be a nice change. Someone has to crusade right into those succubus butts and deliver justice. =3

My plans for this is that you are going to treat it like an actual army. This could change once I actually start developing it, but it would go like this:

Cavalry: You and the troops that surround you. Strong against everything, except spearman.

Archers: Strong versus foot-soldiers, weak against cavalry.

Swordsman: Strong versus spearman, weak vs archers and cavalry.

Spearman: Strong versus cavalry, weak versus archers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-You might be able to unlock new factions to help you, like samurais.

-You could upgrade your soldiers with better armor, weapons, etc.

-The enemy will have the same options, so you must use your army wisely to win.

-Each "character" on RPG Maker will be a unit instead. Instead of Aeolos, you will have "Cavalry" for example.

Strange question but is it still possible to download the demo for chapter 3 somewhere?
As far as I know the demo still had the animations...

That's pretty much what I was expecting and I'm ok with that. Would be a bit strange to have such fight in the bronze age already. I wouldn't mind to have such big battles in the other eras too with appropriate units ofc. Riding to war in the far future on top of a normal horse and holding a saber in my hand would be a bit dumb. X3

Riding to war in a robot horse that can turn into a flying vehicle while wielding a lightsaber that can turn into a laser gun wouldn't be that dumb

Each Era will have a "way of life"

Bronze Age: A solitary hunter
Medieval Age: A powerful general
and so on

Exactly.

This way I can build the world and adapt the character and gameplay towards to what I want for the protagonist.

Ex: Aeolos has to hunt and fish like a hunter to keep his diet and body strong.

This won't be necessary for the protagonist of the second game, that will have access to good food in the army, specially when he rises through the ranks.

So, obviously, I'll have to develop new ways for him to become stronger.

Calling tutors, philosophers and teachers from around the world to give him a boost at something.
A way of life completely different from Aeolos.

Each Era will remake itself to keep things new and interesting. :)

Huh, but won't the future heroes be weaker then if they have easier access to food and water or will they always face a hard training to be on the same physical and mental level as Aeolos was?

Nope. Constant access to food and water would make them even more powerful since they could push themselves more in training and not having to worry about being starved or something like that.

For comparison, look at the pictures of modern day US soldiers and their WWII predecessors.

I am sure it will be amazing. No doubt there would be an epic plottwist by the time we get to the year in the opening as all as boss refights with the past succubi who will have regenerated by then.

The avarage person will be but the hunters be well trained as well as having access to better technology such as supplements and eventually cybernetics. The main thing a succubus hunter will need to train will be their willpower.

While it is true that modern Aeolos descendants won't be as strong as him due to his hardships making him more resourceful and physically stronger, the modern hunters will have access to a much more specialized training and advanced technology.

They will have martial arts, intense gym training, guns, medical assistance, medical chemicals, tech advancements such as modern armor and so much more.

The tech will make up for whatever Aeolos had, and they too will have their own modern challenges, as succubi by then will adapted to the new modern world, where they will hunt in the shadows, instead of attacking in the open as they do now.

Nice, good to know you just wont repeat the same stuff again and again but instead adjust things to the current era and technology available.

I'm still worried about the PCs appearance options we will get in the next era (yeah sorry, it's very far away but I can't help myself X3) and how the artworks are forced to go a middle way since you can't ask V to provide artwork for every possible option we picked. I would prefer to have a default one, like Aeolos, all the time. :/

I truly don't know how I'll go with that yet, I was thinking about giving your appearance based on your class.
Your armor style evolving by based on your class.

I'm ok with different armor types based on character class but not so much on face and body appearances. Oh well, there's still a bit of time left until you reach that point. :p
