I'm gonna agree with

From a story perspective it makes a loose amount of sense (and I phrase that specifically), but from a gameplay perspective it makes for a boring and unengaging combat system. Every battle goes like this:
Defense Magic, Attack, Attack, Heal, Heal, Attack, Attack, Heal, Attack.
Equip new rune, avoid trash fights since there's no benefit to them, get to the next Succubus fight.
Defense Magic, Attack, Attack, Heal, Heal, Attack, Attack, Heal, Attack.
It feels very much like Dragon Quest 1. Where every fight was you trading blows with the enemy, while occasional having to heal. There was very little strategy. Except one thing DQ1 has over SC, is that in DQ1 you can grow stronger by leveling up. Whereas there is no leveling system in SC.
In the latest update I like what Olympus did by adding some side content so you can be blessed with permanent stat increases, but I also don't agree with the idea that since you're at the peak of human physical abilities, you shouldn't be able to level up. There should be a sense of real progression, because as it is now, it's very streamlined.
Further to the point if you look at Monster Girl Quest VN, the progression of Luka's stats was obviously very streamlined, but the strategies for beating enemies varied. It was NOT a perfect system, and I'm not trying to argue that. But the point I'm making is that every battle didn't feel the same. As Luka got new skills, your options for how to approach battles opened up a bit more. You couldn't just attack, attack, heal, attack. You sometimes had to use the right buffs or the right magic for certain fights. You had to think.
If SC is gonna keep this streamlined approach to progression, then I think it needs to do something more in line with MGQ. Some battles should call for different strategies on how to beat the enemy.
As it stands right now the Story, music, artstyle, and H material are gold. But the combat is by far the weakest aspect. Like being served an excellent burger, rich and flavorful, but with a side of soggy fries on the side.
