VN - Ren'Py - Summer Heat [v0.5.1] [Naughty Fox Games]

This is a game everyone should check out and I am really looking forward to how the devs will improve on a solid foundation they have built.
The writing in the game is good and is in a lot of cases very clever and funny.
The character models in this game is probably one of the best once I have every seen, they are unique and pretty.
With that said the game is great and I am looking forward to the next update.

Up to this point, visuals look amazing, and also story seems like it will be something meaningful, rather than another gotta-fuck-'em-all type of game. I'm very much interested in how it will gonna develop and have high hopes for it.

...and here comes the BUT. Despite version being 0.4 and few thousand of renders, what we have now, it's barely an introduction and nothing more. We just met (all?) main characters and didn't even learn much about them, just exchanged greetings, and that's it. So while it looks very promising, I can't give it max rating just yet. It's definitelly worth to try, but for like a 30 minutes of gameplay, it's not really worth being 5-star game.


So.. While I do have high hopes for this, after experiencing dissapointment multiple times with other titles, it's solid 4/5 with high potential.

This really surprised me, I thought it would be just another light-hearted bonk-fest, which it is, but it's also more and really left a mark in my memory.

First of all, the art is fantastic. Some of the best I've seen on this site or others. Models look unique and beautiful, backgrounds are believable and fit the scenes brilliantly.

Speaking of things fitting the scenes, dialogue feels really natural and truly enjoyable to follow along with and the situations, while nothing earth shattering, just feel comfortable and homey.

Sex scenes, at least at the time of leaving this review, are few and far between but feel all the more rewarding for it when you do stumble on one. Here's hoping for more of the same in the future.

I've been trying to rack my brain for a reason to not give this game full points and I just can't find any, nor do I really have any constructive criticism, I just really like everything about it.

Really enjoyed this. Decent writing, excellent renders, nice variety of characters (personalities and faces are quite distinct, though a little more variety in body shape would be good). Looking forward to more.

Dialogue is unfortunately a constant pain in various Adult VNs, be it contrivances, unfunny and untimely jokes, pacing issues and many more. But at the end of the day, you are playing these games for the porn, not the prose.
This game is a first thought, the dialogue in this game is so bad that instead of making me want to skip like others badly written novels, it made me want to stop playing entirely.
As an example of early conversation that happened in the game, paraphrased:
FL: Do you remember my name?
MC: No lmao
FL: No how could you, wait you joking haha lmao, but I remember yours.
MC: No lmao
FL: what?! Oh no I got got again lmao
This may seem overly negative but if you play the game you will know the scene if you play through it. I am to believe that this is a story about young adults ready to shag each other, but the dialogue makes it seem like I am watching children flirting with each other.
Maybe if you start the game by skipping through it you can enjoy the renders and leave with a better impression but otherwise, be prepared for the most juvenile game on this site.

Long story short: This game has the best character models I have ever seen in an AVN, the story has some intrigue, but the characters are a little cliched and behave in unusual ways, leading to some bad dialogue.

I want to congratulate the developer on the character models because they are so much better than their closest rival that it is hard to believe they are using Daz3D at all. Only Kaylee in Projekt Passion comes close to the quality here.

The environments are also quite exceptional, from the run down little shopping precinct, to the house and fields behind it, I have never seen a 'real world' setting look so good in an AVN.

The UI is fantastic and alleviates a lot of the boredom I was feeling with the standard ren'py layout. There's some really good graphic design work.

There's a few nice mysteries here, with the behaviour of the male tutor, the empty buildings out in the fields, and the reasons why the camp went FUBAR in the days before the story begins. I hope this isn't just a reason to reduce the number of characters, but actually ties into the plot.

The bad is that a lot of short cuts are taken. Instead of having scenes developing relationships in a believable way, some of the girls just teleport ahead and start behaving in ways that are completely inappropriate to the time they have spent with the MC. This inevitably leads to some rough dialogue that is painful to read.

Because I put such an emphasis on dialogue and character, I have to dock two stars. Which is a shame, because all the technical and visual art elements are as close to perfect as you can get. I hope to see some improvement to the characterisation and dialogue in the next update.

My favorite VN despite the little content there is so far. The renderings are so beautiful and I have often re-listened to the sex scene aviable until now in the game.

Premise is sexy, art focused summer camp with your buddy. And luckily, it's got alot of babes with amazing tits.

The premise feels a little flimsy, but it seems like they're setting up some secrets/suspense linked to the camp and the town the story takes place in. Dialogue and characters are decent, but nothing compelling about the story yet.

Game so far has four chapters, but only seems to cover the first day or so. It's good to see the love interests aren't just all trying to hop on the MC's pogo stick from the get go, but the pacing is a little concerning.

The renders look good and the models look great. The sex animations are decent (given what little there is at this point) and the dev maintains sexual tension really well.

Wow, damn good stuff here. Great Renders, hot girls!

I really appreciate what has been done with the "Milf" Characters in the one. The stuff with the Kates Sister is top notch

Ui is really good, love me some renpy.

Sex scenes look incredible, lots of care has been put into them, they flow well and are super hot.

Only nitpick is, I am a sucker for wide shots in lewd scenes, would love to see more of those. Just a nitpick though. overall lewd scenes are very well done

Wow just played this and got to say I did not even mind it being short because the quality was on top of the charts. it's very rare to find such a treat, literally every render is wallpaper worthy with all these amazing details. Don't even need to talk about LIs since each one of them has her own charm but what amazes me more about it are the faces and the eyes man. These 2 are such hard things to pull off in VNs and they can either make or break the whole immersion and the dev is talented enough to pull this out on all of them.

Will definitely keep an eye on this and will wait patiently for more.

Review for version v0.4.1

Wow this game is simply amazing. Gorgeous models, fantastic renders and the kind of slow burn that makes you want more! Seriously top tier game: the story is engaging and the humor is smart and snappy and in just the right amount. The dialogue is on the shorter side but I'd say the pace is overall very good. I just wish there was a lot more to play and a lot more of Mia!!

I'll be keeping a close watch on this one, it's definitely in my top 2 with Chasing Sunsets! Keep up the good work Naughty Fox Games, and see you on Patreon!

Summer Heat [v0.4.1]

Summer Heat is another one I wish I let get further on before playing... What I mean by that is I am now going to be stuck waiting for every update on this.

The stunning visuals had me instantly hooked, then it hints to a deeper set of stories at play. There's a seriousness to all the potential story beats so far, but with a mask of light-hearted humour that flows wonderfully from moment to moment.

H-scenes
So far the animations and statics are simply breathtaking, but there's only one real scene to speak of

The "worst" complaint you will find is that there's not much there. That's not to say what's there isn't worth it. But I was just getting invested before the "thanks for playing" screen hit

Exclusively vanilla in terms of kink variety so far.

In conclusion: Love what is there and want more of it. Want more humour, more wit, more beautiful renders, and certainly more photoshoots. If you don't mind waiting: enjoy what's there now. Otherwise you'll certainly be enjoying it later down the line

Everyone praising the visuals and they are goddam right but I want to point out the masterful work on sound in this game. No soundtrack at all and all ambience sounds are outstanding, this game is a gem for an ASMR enjoyer like myself. That POV feeling is implemented successfully. I like the casualness thus far but I sense an underlying intriguing plot coming up with that P.E. teacher. This game has THE POTENTIAL to be one of the greatest.

My god, the renders on this game is something else. Not only the characters but the atmosphere and scenery are just stellar.

Summer heat is a carefree story about young adult romance and relationship. The main strength of the game are the characters, they're all damn gorgeous but the real treat is that they're their own persons with unique desires and ambitions in life. In short; they FEEL real enough.

The dialogues are well thought out and got that lifelike feel, people talk like this, it's not just a pornified version of reality (though they are interested in MC so there's that).

There's a tradeoff of course as right now there's little sexual content, quality like this does take time and I suspect we're gonna wait a long time to get to the juicy stuff. But with a game like Summer Heat, the wait is worth it.

Excellent visual quality, the models and renders are above average, very well done.
The dialogues and the story are also well developed, it advances slowly but that makes the interaction between the characters not feel forced.

The only negative thing is that it's not finished yet, but what a gem!

I admit I'm the sort that looks for story rich content over visuals and lewd scenes. But surprisingly there seems to be a capable and immersive story emerging at a pretty early stage.

The thing I am getting somewhat tired of seeing in these VN's is that ever so annoying and intellect insulting sidekick. I would request an early implementation of a "punch his face to a pulp" feature/option. Either that or just drop the whole wanabe comic relief character entirely. It's not funny nor remotely amusing.

It's a cheap 'goto' content wasting and immersion killing writing technique. I wish some devs would stop using this high school level writing. Everytime, I get a knee-jerk reaction to delete the entire game.

The story would be so much better without such a moronic character being shoved down your patron's throats.

Hope this will be considered in your future endeavors, because clearly you have talent in creating this sort of interactive novel. But that aside, the rest of the content is actually quite good. I can't wait for the rest and to see if you'll include a "punch mike in the face option". That would be great.

UPDATE: Played through the 0.5 - my rating of 3/5 remains the same.

All of my previous points still stand - the game looks amazing*, has well-done UI and SFX, and writing is clear of any obvious mistakes.

Unfortunately, this is still a chore to play through. The dialogue is "meh" at best, the characters feel far too acquainted with MC despite extremely short time-frame (less than 24 in-game hours), and we're adding more characters that aren't properly fleshed out.

We got a second-ever full-on sex scene, but it felt extremely awkward to me, having almost no "sex appeal". We got a couple new characters that have almost no bearing on the plot. We got a new "mysterious" bad guy that has absolutely no bearing on what's going on.

And, lastly, we have the final scene of the update (starring Mia) that left me completely befuddled as to why it happened. She suddenly jumped weeks into the future of her relationship with MC and gave him a handjob and a blowjob. What.

Overall, I cannot fully recommend this game. Not yet.

* Pretty much all images in the 0.5 are compressed a little too hard and that leaves some character models (especially the face and neck area) looking oddly blurry and sometimes even blocky. Really odd choice for a game that has clearly talented artists behind it.

Let me be absolutely clear: the audio-visual design of Summer Heat is excellent. Very much in the top-of-the-line category with titles such as City of the Broken Dreamers, Dreamland or ACQUAINTED. Beautiful renders, easy to use GUI, and overall polish in this department. Also, props for error-free writing - it's obvious that the text was proofread by someone knowledgeable.

That being said, the rest of this visual novel is... subpar, to put it simply. Why? Let me explain.

Characters. Oh my sweet Lord, it feels as if the devs decided to "draw 25" rather than use non-cliche, memorable LI's (or even side characters) in the story.

We've got: the "shy and obviously-in-love" childhood friend, the "trust me, bro" best friend, the "edgy and mysterious" girl who almost instantly warms up to MC despite her "long-standing trauma", the "(...) and they were roommates (...)" girls with one being "cheerful and bubbly" and the other not. Sure, we get to know them better during the "playground" section, but it's far from perfect or enough.

Then again, the MC is inoffensive (he's neither clueless nor genuinely interesting), the "art camp" couple has some intrigue brewing (but there's not enough focus on them so I can't tell how it's going to play out) and the "car lady" is absolutely unequivocally fire (don't @ me).

One thing that bugs me and combines the two aforementioned points: Why in the hell all female characters look at the MC so... suggestively? There's this constant "smirk" on their faces that looks jarring and makes me feel at little uneasy as a player/viewer.

The next "meh" part of the game - Pacing. I don't know what the plan is, but after four "major" updates and thousands of renders we barely progressed in the single day. That makes me skeptical/worried about how long this game will be developed for. I get that perfection takes time, but some people will simply forget about the title if it takes years to complete.

Combine it with two "okay-ish" teasing scenes and one (admittedly top-notch) sex scene and you have a slow-burn mess that doesn't yet know which way to progress. Is there something more behind the cold facade of the husband? Is the camp actually a mysterious "hunting ground"? And what the fuck is that "ugly" girl doing there?

Just wait a couple more months. Maybe then we'll know more. Or maybe we'll just get another hour of... summer heat(stroke).

Goddamn this game is so frikking perfect in every possible way man, the graphics on everything are beautiful, specially on the girls, the plot is gold and the lewd scenes are hot as fuck. The only thing that i could possibly vote it down for is the months it takes to update and the few hours it takes me to finish it.
