I was personally okay going forward with smaller updates, but I'm sure you saw how 0.6 went. Especially here on F95. I think we're in the vast minority when it comes to small update preference... The question of future update lengths was in the 0.6 survey but we omitted it for obvious reasons. We'll have it up for consideration again after this one, but currently it would've probably just resulted in more dissatisfaction if we went ahead with the smaller ones, despite more frequent updates.

I mean technically, we could be working on 0.9 already if the old 650'ish was a goal. But would that be better though? It might be more ideal for us to have frequent updates, but not as much for the general player experience. Opinions are welcome. The 3-4 month guess by Rob during 0.6 is something that I'd want to strive for but I'm not going to promise or estimate anything like that until I know I can deliver on it.

They were just paused for about 3 months like originally stated, not counting any of the other ones of course. :BootyTime:

It happens. Wish it didn't but sometimes it just do be like that.

Happy New Year Zoners.
You're never going to please everyone, so ignore the bitchers and whiners. They're literally the last people you should listen to. They will always throw a fit no matter what you do so just release the update when you're happy with it and tell the haters to fuck off. It doesn't matter if it's a shorter update or not.

Smaller or bigger updates.... it doesn't change anything, this debate is useless. At the end the number of renders "per year" is the same, whether you release them in 2 or 3 smaller updates or all at once in a bigger one. And since bigger is more enjoyable to play there is no reasons to fragment it ever. The end.

The only thing that can be added to this is that updates need to have measurable progress regardless of size. The 0.6 update saw little plot progression and limited LI relationship advancement, so the update would have felt underwhelming even if it came out in half the time.

This is a very good approach, if the 0.6 update had 7000 renders but ended at the same time in the school, and those 5400 extra renders were only used for new angles of the same scenes, the update would still be bad for most people.

I will always prefer updates of 3 or 4 months, even if it is cut off abruptly. People who want something bigger just have to wait for a year to pass and play all the new content at once, but it's just my way of seeing things so that most people are satisfied, although it is impossible to satisfy to everyone, no matter what they do. Well... if 0.7 had good scenes with all the protagonists... I don't think anyone would criticize, but it would be burning all the cards in a single play.

Happy new year!.

Not every LI needs to have substantial progress in every update, but there needs to be enough for those that are only interested in one LI to be invested in the plot. In 0.6, nothing of note happens plotwise and our low-energy MC needs to take a nap. Not the proverbial page turner ...

Now you made me think, how long did MC sleep on night 1?. He is a young guy, in a place that is not his home, on his first day surrounded by supermodels, who would be sleepy in that situation?. And it's not worth saying that he had sex 3 times because maybe you're going down a path where the only sexual thing MC thinks about is giving Eve a super explosion all over her face and ruining her gothic makeup.
The famous horror tag was perhaps because our MC has some illness that makes him very sleepy even if he is in paradise.

The horror tag is the shocking revelations yet to be revealed about Miller the killer, the battery on his drill is charging :devilish:

Is this game made with DAZ? How did they get the girls to look like actual humans and not plastic barbie bimbos? Is it just that other game devs are bad at it?

A lot of devs don't know how to alter the character meshes to come up with unique versions for their games. There are controls for just about every aspect of the model, later Daz models offer more and different ones or higher mesh counts. Another factor is the rendering hardware, as the higher-count models consume more resources so it may be that you can only have a couple of characters maximum in a scene since all your memory in the graphics buffers is consumed. And higher quality models take longer to render, plus if you include lighting and atmospheric effects that also adds to calculation overhead, making the process take longer. So if you are trying to turn a game around quickly taking the default models, minimizing the lighting and atmospherics, not doing as much post-processing, etc. means you have a lower-quality image.

Thanks for the info. I've been wanting to learn how to make my own games but my computer is like 8 years old and I don't know if it can handle all that stuff.

You may be able to up to some point but you will be limited with the amount of textures and model complexity your rig can handle. You can help that by installing a high-end gaming graphics card to handle a lot of the memory buffer and computations. There are other engines such as Honey Select which don't have as rigorous a requirement but you don't get the photorealism. There are some excellent games using that engine where the writing is what makes the game popular, not necessarily the graphics.

EDIT: Pronoun trouble
