Status Update #35

Howdy!

This week we achieved something we've been wanting to do for a long time: our own clothing.

The moment came in clutch too because a scene required a shirt that didn't exist in a way that we wanted it, or wanted to use it. So, this was a win in many ways when it comes to content creation. This will benefit us in many ways going forward.

We've also continued on making new renders and observing animation frames come out in steady pace. A little bit of UI design as well, and reworking thumbnails.

While waiting for the next stages in coding, we've also learned some new skills which will be a massive time saver in the future.

Design workbench - New clothes

We're not completely new to clothing and their mysterious ways, but while messing around with clothing simulations we thought, "Why not make our own?" So as a learning experiment, our in-house goblin coder/designer Rob has made some new clothes for the ladies.

A quick test with a tube top and panties. We've wanted to have something similar before but the options were severely lacking. Now we have them, and they can both offer exactly what's required of a visual game. Panties that fit well, and a top that can slide in any direction with ease.

Who wore them best?

Sometimes we have a specific outfit in mind but can't find it anywhere on the Daz3D store, so making our own clothes would be a good skill to have. It gives us a lot more control and the opportunity to use clothes you may have never seen elsewhere. The opportunities are endless. Well, almost endless. Below are a couple of common examples we can show you!

These clothes also don't break every time they are simulated, which is a big W.

The blue shirt and panties are also custom made, and they may or may not be designed for a certain lady who's favorite color is blue.

Other news

Livia
snatched the special for May, so let's see what we can cook up for her later this month. Possibly something blue.

Cheers and have a comfy weekend,

I assume they've slowed down the rendering rate, they used to create between 70 and 80 per week, but these last few weeks they've only talked about creating the magical clothes that gradually come off. Maybe that's led them to produce fewer renders, which is what justifies releasing an update per year. It's a shame they can't keep their promise to be more transparent, but this isn't the first time. Sophie's fans should be happy, they practically confirmed they're making the magical clothes for her.

This kind of attention to detail is something I really appreciate about Naughty Fox's work. They (and some few other developers) understand that the way clothing and hair behave has a big impact on how real the characters and scenes feel and I think it's what sets the truly great digital artists apart from the rest. So many other devs just slap on some cheap clothing assets and call it a day, which is where you get that weird affect where clothing seems to unnaturally trace exact contour of a woman's breasts like the example below.

I don't know what kind of wizardry NFG used to make it, but those new clothing simulations look fucking good!

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

As far as the discussion about the format of the dev logs, I definitely prefer the more "behind the scenes" format like how Digi.b does. Render counts have never interested me and I've never understood why some people fuss over them. There are so many variables that affect render counts that it's virtually meaningless at the end of the day. The show-and-tell for some of the new shit they're developing though like these new clothing assets? That's way more interesting to me.

How can you not care if the game's strongest point is graphics
Simply put, I’m more interested in the quality than the quantity.

There will be render counts when the update drops for those that are interested, but by then i’ll be too distracted by the tiddies to fuss over the numbers.

Thanks Wonder Wolf! Damn, Kaitlyn's bazongas really are big... I'm hoping for more scenes (and potentially a sexual/lewd one) of her in the next update! :sneaky:

Oh who cares? I rather the same daz assets be reused if it means we get more content faster, especially since this AVN's releases are already IMO too short
