For me, at least, most of the fun of playing WIPs is the engagement with the dev. So small acknowledgements, in-game, however small, really encourage the fan base.

Like the game Free Pass. In the sequel, There's a character from nearby me, with similar dialect and mannerisms. And it's awesome.
