Your now putting words in my mouth and mischaracterizing my statements of my personal opinion as speaking for anyone other than myself. It's of no consequence to me if the writer wants to script his adult kinetic VN any way he sees fit. Public forums are a valuable tool for him to use to see what prevailing tastes are and thoughtfully sift through criticisms on his own. Or not.

But back to your false comparrison of French Restaurant patrons ordering pizza I gotta just say that was about the worst forced shoe horn of mental gymnastics to support a bad point ever. As not to appear to speak for anyone else I'll just guess that most F95zone users don't look to feed on pizza at French restaurants and similarly don't look to satiate their predilections for cartoon porn with melodramatic, long winded sob stories. To be absolutely honest I thought all the paths took an abrupt turn for the worse in terms of writting after chapter 2. I found it a bit rushed and unsatisfying. Just my opinion.
I can't speak for every user, but I find myself looking for cool stories over instant gratification fap material...and sometimes those cool stories having a darker turn enhances the experience. Might be because Im 31 though...probably younger people aren't interested in sob stories

Finished 5.0 in february and now we only got cosmetic changes which doesn't even allow the load to continue ?!?!? WTF dude, create 1 new scene, than upload new version! i personaly won't start from scratch just to make my "achievements", whats the big deal with them anyway. If this is all you got for 9 months i cannot imagine you will finish it all. Anyway, enough bad 6it - the good stuff is the plot till chapter 2, after that i just stopped reading it to get to the scenes faster :) also rendering is nice.

I released v0.5.5 at the end of February.
I guess you just waited 8 months to play it.
And it didn't require you to start from scratch.

I do. It's not the only reason, mind you, but the sex scenes are great. And I am not into pegging, never went through the cassie dom path, so that has no bearing on my reasoning.

that was mostly a joke, we all love the sex scenes, don't get me wrong, but if you play the game and skip around in the dialogs to get to "the good stuff" you are missing out the best parts of the game.

I never said I skip the dialogues. In fact, I think the context and how we get to them is what makes the sex scenes great. But I also think one doesn't work without the other (story/dialogue without the sex scenes). But that's just me.

Dev Update #115

Not much to say this week so that dev update should be short.
The beta test has started yesterday and should last for a week unless my beta testers find some major problems necessitating a major rework.
But I'm kind of confident that it shouldn't happen.

So that means that the release of v0.6.1 should start next weekend.
  • The early access for the Sailing Masters should start on 13th November.
  • The week of exclusivity for the Gunners will start on 20th November.
  • The game should be available on on 27th November.

Stress levels are rising.

Dev update #116

The last dev update before the release.
I have yet to make and upload the builds but everything should be ready for tomorrow.

I'll start with the bad news.
Your saves may not be compatible with the new release.
I modified the code of previous episodes and those changes have consequences.
Some saves will load just fine but won't allow you to roll back, some others will have you restart at the start of the previous scene, and some others just won't load properly.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience but I had no other choice.
This will happen again in the future, as I'll have to rework some old code to implement new features.

What's next?
I have many things to do before I can really start working on part 2.
  • Rework the Trello Board.
    The board is no longer an efficient way to present the progression of the development. I need to rethink it for something more detailed.
  • Update the trigger lists.
    That's going to be the first thing I'll work on this week. Most of the trigger lists are fine but I'll need to put together a map for some paths that got... a bit more complicated.
  • Rework the story map.
    As I changed my plans and the way I split the story into several parts, I need to rework some elements and see if I can make smaller updates and still keep a balanced content. I already began working on that part but nothing is really fixed so far.
  • Create characters and environments.
    I'll need four to five new characters and at least four new environments for part 2. I'll need to hunt the assets I need and create the ones I miss.

To these immediate tasks, I can already add a few features I want to include in part 2.
  • Music!
    And maybe even some sound effects. It's something I can't postpone anymore.
  • Rework the point system.
    I'm not happy with the point system currently in the game. I want something more visual and simple. I have ideas to work on.
  • Rework the notification system.
    There again. I'm not happy with the current notifications. I want something more flexible and useful to the player.

With these new features, Summer Scent should begin to feel like a proper game.

Day 6 part 1 early access for Sailing Masters starts tomorrow.

Implementing sound could be interesting. For example i could see maybe using door sounds in this?
Or i don't know if people played the AVN "babysitter", but i always liked how the developer brought everything to life simply by putting in faint traffic noises in the background when you're in your appartment...
Such a simple way to create some atmosphere, but it might not work here since they don't appear to be living straight downtown...But yeah..sound is a rather complicated thing to integrate..not to mention music.. :p
