I see the dev making update really often, but when do we gonna have a new release ? It's been like 7 or 8 months since the last one.
I don't get why he needs to release like 800 renders in 7-8 months.. how about 200-300 renders in 2-3 months...?

Well, it's just bad for your "business".. If you were to update once in (at least) 2-3 months, you would probably have way more active patreons every month.
That is totally true. However, the structure of my story does not allow it. I'm already splitting the chapters into smaller parts, I can't go further than that.

Dev Update #148

I'm pretty happy with the progress of the week. I managed to tackle about every task on my list. Here is a quick status update on the development.

What I did this week :
  • Scene 18 is fully posed and rendered.
  • I transcripted the scene and sent it for proofreading. It should be back in a few days.
  • I corrected the scripts for scenes 11 to 17

What remains to be done :
  • Post-processing: The 893 shots of the update are composed of 973 actual renders. Post-processing these will take some time. I need at the very minimum 2 to 3 minutes to process a render, more if some more advanced correction is needed. I already do some quality control right after the rendering so I know that most of the images won't need any special treatment. I don't expect any bad surprises.
  • Correcting scene 18: Once it's back from proofreading. Hopefully, I'm improving on the engrish front and I won't have too much work on that task. But there are still almost 15 k words in that scene. That's a lot to review.
  • Some more coding: The script is logic ready but I still need to add in the images and the achievements Which will probably represent a couple thousand lines of code.

I hope I can deal with that task list before the end of next week. After that, I'll take a couple of days to solo test the build before putting my beta testing slaves to work for a week.
There's still a lot to be done, but we're getting close.

The quick sum up :
  • Day 6 Part 2 will contain 8 scenes (Scenes 11 to 18).
  • Scenes 11 to 18 are written.
  • Scenes 11 to 18 are posed and rendered.
  • Scenes 11 and 18 are logic ready.
  • 28 725 words, 6230 lines of code. 893 shots are posed and rendered.
  • I'm currently working on post-processing.

Downloaded this game some minutes ago. Glad to see you're still working on it! Looks promising, can't wait to dig into it.

Dev Update #149

The post-processing hogged most of my week. I finished last night and exported all images to a more convenient file format this morning.
I started adding images, dynamics and achievements into the code. Scenes 11 and 12 are done. I hope to be done with that on Wednesday and launch the beta test immediately after.
This means that, barring any unexpected disaster, v0.6.2 should release on the 15th of July for Sailing Master and upper tiers, and on the 22nd of July for the Gunner tier. It will then be available on on the 15th of August.
I planned a few new features for that update and finally won't add any. No music, no revamped point system, nothing new. I'll postpone all that to a future update. Maybe a dedicated "feature update". I haven't decided anything yet.
Adding music is an especially difficult task. Probably because I am too picky. I spent hundreds of hours listening to various tracks, picked some and changed my mind several times. I'll have to do something about it quickly because it's obviously something that the game needs direly. I'll have to make a definitive choice.
I also need to recode the global structure of the game to make it "update only" friendly. As it's the distributions are getting fairly big, I need to ease the download and the update process. That distribution model will also become a necessity if I ever launch on Steam.

The quick sum up :

  • Day 6 Part 2 will contain 8 scenes (Scenes 11 to 18).
  • Scenes 11 to 18 are written.
  • Scenes 11 to 18 are posed and rendered.
  • Scenes 11 and 18 are logic ready.
  • 28 725 words, 6699 lines of code. 893 shots are posed, rendered, post-processed and exported.
  • I'm currently working on adding the images and achievements along with some debugging.

Just discovered this game and played through what's available so far, going the dual love route + Kelly. I love it. Happy to hear that a new update will be out soon as well.

One thing I often wonder with some of these games. Why do they give the option to change your first name, but not your last? I've seen that with a few games and always find it odd. I'd like to change both. My last name is Archer in here it seems. Only mentioned in one scene that I remember. Doesn't matter much though.

Anyway, great game, I'm loving the characters and the story so far. Looking forward to more.

I can't talk for every game out there but in my case. I have, or had, plans for that name.
Just like with Cassie, whom I originally allowed to rename to finally remove that option. As I needed to control her name, nickname and surname for story purposes.

Seemingly every preview image has characters depicted as pensive or melancholy - very foreboding ...
Nice observation. I'll try to capture more smiles in my future preview images.
