Dev Update #234
The Moonriver Diner.
My quest for an exterior has been a failure. I searched for some Hdri, and found none fitting. I tried to create my own and failed because apparently, you can't render mesh lights into an environment lights layer. I had no choice but to go for a completely black background. It's not great. but it's not like I have any other options.
The environment also comes with some light issues. There is a lot of chrome and glass, and as a consequence, a lot of reflections which make the light very complex and difficult to render. Some of my preview shots are very noisy. I hope I'll be able to clean them a bit in post-processing.
I thought I was playing smart, selecting only clothes that I wouldn't have to simulate. But I managed to come up with another clothing nightmare.
Cassie's outfit looks great in that scene. In my opinion, at least. But to have it fit I have to use layers of smoothing upon layers of smoothing. And it takes a pretty long time to calculate every time I move her even slightly. It's infuriating. But it looks nice. I like that version of her.
I managed to progress a bit, however. I passed shot #145, there are 24 shots left in that segment and about a hundred shots left in the whole scene.
