I think folks that would rate this game below a 4 are probably using a "3 is an average quality game that they would play on this site" type of mental anchor, while most other folks are using a "3 is an average quality game on this site" anchor instead. IMHO its better to use the second measure because its better for you to promote (with a higher rating) games you would even try, as it does help them find an audience which may lead to that dev staying afloat or working longer on stuff you actually like compared with the 90% of content on the site you probably wouldn't even try. If you use a harsher standard, you are just punishing creators for making games you might like.
To me this game should earn a ~4.5 as its got solid writing, graphics, choices that matter and that's better than ~95% of the games on the site. What holds it back is there are probably too many tracks <side note: holy shit there are supposed to be 18 tracks in this game now?>; as some of the really weird tracks soak up a lot of effort but will be enjoyed by only a tiny fraction of players (Kelly, Moronic Hero, Evil Asshole, Psychotic Knight, Neutral, etc.). I'm checking in to the thread today since I haven't played an update for this game in over a year and it looks like there is maybe a in game day's worth of content added to the tracks I'm interested in, which is definitely disappointing.
Here's hoping for more progress next year.
Cheers!
