Seriously, a NOTHING update? Shouldn't count as one if there's nothing new from the last save forward. Especially since it was nearly a YEAR!

What are you talking about? in the last year there were five paths with an update:
- Eve Love, Dual Love and Weird Triangle in July
- Moronic Hero and Kelly Love in this update

Just because you don't play those paths doesn't mean there is nothing new at all.

thats not perfectionism, that's lack of motivation and laziness pure and simple. i remember how short the last update was as well. one scene every 2 months and doesnt even have animation? naawww haha
It can actually be perfectionism and the other things you mentioned.

Perfectionism isn't always a good thing. In this case, it means the dev spends way more time per render compared to other devs because they feel compelled to get the posing, lighting, framing, etc "just right". But most readers probably wouldn't notice much difference if they spent a fraction of the time per render and got it "good enough". And that would mean more frequent updates.

The dev even mentioned in a progress update a while back that they were going to try to cut back on this compulsion even if it meant not having "perfect" lighting, so I'm not just speculating. As someone with perfectionist tendencies myself, I can tell you from experience that it can be hard to ignore and can really, really slow things down if unchecked.

In other words, I'm not trying to justify slow updates, just explaining the psychological compulsion likely responsible for them.

Edit: Also, unless the dev gets a partner that pushes him to work more quickly at the cost of "perfection", supporters start loudly complaining, or he gets the ability to work on this full time, the dev speed is unlikely to change. Which is why I said I've accepted that it'll likely take a while before the routes I like get endings.

Working on 1 path at a time is bullshit - it means others can wait YEARS to move on. Sort of thing a dev I'd never support would do. Add content for all paths for each release.

So you'd prefer this dev release an update every 2-3 years so that the update has something for every path?

If the dev did that while still releasing an update about every 6 months, people would complain that they would only have 5 minutes maximum per path and the story would feel rushed. At least the way the dev does it now, we get somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes of playtime for the updated paths (if you read the story and not just skip to to the sex that is).

Basically, you just have to say that Dev is too slow. How long did it take him to render the 530 pictures? Half a year or even longer? Yes, there are even slower devs, but this dev was much faster at the beginning, and then there were the constant updates. And when you see what a dev like “badbod” can accomplish in a short time without wanting a penny, then you wonder why other devs who are paid are so brutally slow.

Check out the changelog to see how much he rendered up to 0.6 and how much since then. And back then, there was an update every 2-3 months.

PS: I was his supporter for the first 2 or 3 years, but then he started to slow down and deliver less and less. At first, I thought it was just a phase, but it actually got worse every year.

No chance this update is 530 renders. Its only 3 scenes.

Not really, because then the people who only play 1 or 2 routes would still be complaining they have to wait many years because the little amount of story in their path(s) isn't worth the 5-6 GB download each time.

Just face it: It's already impossible to please everybody, and it's even worse if you have this many very different paths instead of just a few differences per path. The dev is stuck between a rock and a hard place, and imo the way they do it now is the best solution.

I would prefer fewer paths and more content for everyone as opposed to many paths but very little content unless you decide to play all paths.

Thats why I dont support the dev. Not saying the dev should do what I want - its his game. He can and should do what he wants. But just as it is his wish to do what he wants to do with his game, it is on me what I choose to do with my money. And the above is the reason I will not support the game. I dont think I am getting enough value out of it to justify supporting. When it is completed I might buy the finished product on steam but thats about it.
