What am I missing here? I went through the intro, and now I am looking at a blank, yellowish screen with the tablet and book in the top right corner. I tried the tablet, but it won't allow me to click on a location to go to that location. What's the deal?

My Android Ports have a 2nd Persistent save location. So, even if you uninstall the game, the saves will remain Intact.

Saves location: Storage/0011/Game-name

I used the book and selected the middle location, now i can go to the 4 locations but i need popularity to trigger event, so i am stuck too, social media app is also stuck.
Edit You need to cheat #96
