The world is moving, and people are evolving, but the game is standing still, rooted to the spot, and I have a question: how much can a game be put on hold, and can a game go from being held to being abandoned?

You're looking at this as if there's set in stone rules. I mean a game can be on hold as long as the dev doesn't go MIA. As for it being abandoned. That could happen to any game at any time. Especially one being created by one dude who's just a normal person living their life and making a game on the side.

The fact we are still getting proof of life IMO is great.
It means there's a chance the update will land at some point.
I'm betting we'll see the update very early 2026.
