Man I should not have clicked on that second spoiler tag... I should really NOT have clicked that second spoiler tag...fuck me.

My body's violent reaction to that render now has me concerned about playing the game moving forward. Jesus Christ in heaven. It's like going from cute kitten videos to watching someone get decapitated and disemboweled at the same time.

Gonna work on purging this devlog from my brain... Math and unclothed Mila - 2/10:sick:

Could some of you tech-savvy folks enlighten this rookie on why Daz demands such heavy-duty hardware just to get anything done? Are the textures and physics really so next-level that they gobble up every scrap of computing power the second you fire it up, or is the whole thing just limping along on poor optimization?

ps. thanks for the repost :coffee:
It's not really that difficult to imagine it even to someone who never used DAZ 3D specifically himself. It's more of a matter of what you know about the basics of 3D modeling and CAD design in any other field - mechanical, architectural, medical, whatever.

To make sure you understand - you don't need such expensive hardware if you limit yourself with less complex scenes. Ocean is really pushing the limits of what is possible. Some people are actually using laptops to make DAZ 3D fan art. The quality nor complexity and especially the speed are not comparable, but it's possible.

I know what you mean. I just wouldn't be so harsh with my words. And I can get over it by not really looking at her or looking at her like she was a badly designed piece of furniture. I think.

hehehe. All this talk of people "going pro" like it's just a whim you decide on one day.

There are like 5 people in the world playing a sport professionally that weren't exceedingly dominant at that sport starting at around age 7. Everything about sports in this game seems like somebody told an alien about sports, then that alien told another alien from a different planet about it, and then it was finally written down by a third alien.

If movies, books, games and other entertainment stuff would always be 100% realistic, no one would bother to watch/play them. Escapism doesn't work if everything in entertainment is the same boring shit you have to deal with in daily life.

"Escapism" and just being wrong are different things. I fully understand that this stuff doesn't bother most people, but at this point I'm still playing SG mostly out of an odd fascination with the funhouse mirror version of the world. It's all so baffling.

It's not like no one has seen this type of thing before, the most striking thing to me was Zara and her going pro in tennis at age 22 after college, where everyone starts pro career at age 14-16, I think track and field was a solution that would look fairly believable. But we all overlook this, taking into account that the fictional world of Ocean and Ocean's Law govern this world.

But still remember that it can be even funnier when we enter the world of underground car racing, I think that out of the goodness of our hearts we should send a letter to Ocean with advice to play at least a little Need For Speed Underground so that he has at least a minimum of knowledge about the subject, otherwise it will start to be funny again

This mystical fighting style of the Ayua family can also be fun, I personally predict that Ocean will do a pure anime with knocking out opponents with backflips

Perspective is the key - you see much just 'being wrong' with SG, while I am among those who see it as escapism and simply enjoying the AVN - different perspectives for the same AVN.

I see a lot to like, including an interesting story built with a basic societal architecture I understand:

Single 'Mom' with 2 kids
Tragedy struck one of them and he is still suffering from many of the aftereffects of that tragedy
College starting, with the chance to write a new chapter in the books of many lives
Cliques within the school
Etc.

This is Not a Lifetime movie script; it is a detailed story, being told using a slowly changing mix of software and hardware, while the author is trying to make a living telling his stories.

I like a story with some larger-than-life characters, and a mix that leans strongly towards beautiful women - certainly better in my book than Many Lifetime movies.

Yes - we have had a few iterations of tits as seen in a funhouse mirror (sorry Mila...) but these are the exception versus the norm.

Every AVN is a mix of some combination including: story, imagery, animations, music and ambient noise.

I've played hundreds of AVNs now and none of them max out at 10 of 10 across the board, so if someone is Looking to find fault - things just 'being wrong' - easy peasy.

I'm not looking to find fault... I'm looking for a good story, well-presented, that provides enough continuity in terms of appealing to my sense of sight and sound, to keep me immersed in the AVN.

SG does that for me.

I just don't camp anywhere out of morbid curiosity.

I have a major backlog of AVNs to play, hopefully enjoying many of them and, for me, that is one place where my time is better spent.

That and soon, enjoying the Civ 7 release!

Cheers!! :coffee:

I understand the complains and is not like I don't have some myself, but I have to ask, are we not holding Ocean to a impossible standard ? Not only for a AVN but for storytelling altogether ? Even the best of media has its flaws, even when they are trying to portray USA or another country, and although is a bit cheap, as was mention a million times, Wollust is not a american or a European city. The rules of it is Ocean's to make. Some of it is porn logic, sure, Katie goes to college with a dominatrix outfit for god sake, some of it is just short cuts, like the sport thing. Is it the best of worldbuildings ? No. Ideally the plot would serve the world not the world the plot but is it a deal breaker ? I don't think so.

SG is a character focused story, that was the promise that Ocean made. From the fist scene with Vic is clear that Ocean is not trying to mimic the real world, you don't get interrogated by the police or anything like that, instead the story focus on Nika response to it, on how Nami responds to it. Ocean flashes out the characters and their dynamics. A better writer could have done both ? Sure, maybe. I don't think it necessary makes Ocean lesser of a writer though, is just not the focus of this story. the characters and their archs are. That is why Nojiko getting spicer renders feels much more odd to me than colleges having detention. In some manner I understand Ocean, or think I do, he likes the model and the character so he plays with it, lets have Noji reading a book with a leg up in the air. That is why writers have editors, to trim their excess, make sure they are not chasing a butterfly while the house is on fire or they are not biting more than they can chew. Most of Ocean flaws that I see is not really his, is just a lack of a good editor to trim his excess - yes, boob sizes too- he can't really on the public for that and when he try to correct something he overdue it.

See that one's fine. First because I was ready to see some gnarly shit instead of being caught off guard. And second because at least that woman looks human. Mila looks like an alien shapeshifter that still hasn't got the hang of human anatomy quite yet

She's surely a big woman. Not my preference but she looks human, proportional for the weight she's carrying around her bone structure. If Mila looked something close to that, I wouldn't say that she doesn't look normal, but she doesn't.

Mila looks better directly from the front, but her body in profile is the worst. There you can see how wrong her posture is.

I guess my question about all the sports stuff is....why? He's invented a truly mind boggling and absurd sports system/league for....reasons? Sports already exist. The systems for how they work, who plays them, when, why, etc. all exist. I just don't understand why this character and story focused VN has this tangent involving bizarro world sports.

On another note, I'm noticing that chapter 5 has far more typos/grammar/editing issues than the rest of the game. I'm used to seeing stuff like that get better over time, not worse.

Well why is simply because Ocean wanted it that way, for whatever reasons he thought it would fit the story better and for a creative point of view it gives him more freedom than operate in a more realistic manner. Is simply like that, there is not a secret reason. Why the good guy is only hit on non vital places ?

You can't tell a story about the return of a basketball prodigy if you take a real system from America

You work for a sports team in college while you're in high school and whether you get in or not is verified when you apply based on your high school achievements. Nika couldn't because he was Emo and didn't give a damn about sports

So without this system
Meeting buddies on the way to achieving his goal to the dump
Lewdable Hill and possibly Lewdable Coate to the dump
Dwight being the captain of your team and possible drama with Sasha when you're messing with her to the dump
Drama with Nicole when you start sleeping with girls who fell for the charm of a basketball prodigy to the dump
The whole storyline with Katie Zane and her plan for the dumpster

So the reason is that his weird system supports his story

I don't understand what you mean you work for a sports team in college while you're in high school. Whether you are part of a college team is not determined by high school achievements.

Walk-Ons are a thing in college. Anybody at all can just show up and try to make the team. Depending on the sport, and the school, most of the players on a team will be walk-ons. So yes, you could absolutely tell the same story without inventing such an insane system.

I think you may be falling into the same trap Ocean has. It seems to me that your perception of how sports at the college level in America work is based on guesses.
