If we're happy with the idea of Bella lying, we can be happy with the idea of Stefan lying. If we believe Stefan is a bad person, then lying is not an issue. THe simplest thing is that he is willing to charge Mila, without evidence, and the police take his word (as he is the house owner filing the report). Regardless of the complexities of his character, he is playing a game, or allowing other people to play a game through him.No, Stefan doesn't seem to be "targeting" Mila. Someone is, but we don't know who. Unless Stefan is lying, he doesn't know who's being accused for the break-in, doesn't even know her name. And he has no reason to lie (that we know of for sure), unless he's some kind of mastermind playing some 3D chess with them (that would be only a speculation at this point).
Mario Holgerson knows Mila, Vanessa knows Mila (unless I misremember this) and Stefan's wife might know Mila, but Stefan seems to be clueless:

Sure, I think I remember this discussion. You thought that he might be aware that Bella and Nika were the ones breaking into his house (that the cameras were actually working) and may be planning to somehow "cash in" this favor of keeping them out of trouble later on. But there's still no evidence of it so far, only your speculation. The speculation that Leia (=Mafia?) is involved somehow is even further away from any evidence we know about so far. She might be, but there's a much bigger chance at this point that she's not.
This was what I was talking about. I was not speculating but trying to bring this speculation fest back "down to Earth" to the facts we actually know for sure at this point.
We'll see if you were right or wrong. There's a good chance that Stefan really is clueless and someone else is manipulating this investigation. In any case, Stefan's happy to accuse Mila without any evidence, which makes him have a 'guilty until proven innocent' mindframe, which suggests he's not a nice person. The presumption of innocence is certainly the normal way to be, not to have a suspect with no evidence.
Or...... wait ....hold on, Mario saw Mila (blonde) with Nika. What if the camera saw a blonde with Nika leaving? It's the night of the day after, Nika and Mila would be fresh in Mario's mind...
Hmmmm. I'll leave all the other conjecture as is, but this is interesting. And this might actually be why Vanessa is testing Nika so much, she's suspicious of him, and now Nika night be connected to Bella... Vanessa's possibly just being an amateur detective, looking out to see if her dad's making a mistake getting involved with the wrong sort of people.
Edit: Whoops, sorry Mamaragan I meant to reply to you as well - you forgot the time for animations. Snimations are a whole lot more pain, and it depends if Ocean will do a cinematic for the start of the new season, or get the first chapter out, and think up an animation while he's doing S2Ch2.

Because in this scenario, maybe the shot wasn't easy enough for an id, it was night, and Mario's seen Nika exactly once, and doesn't know his name. They'll want to get Mila to find out who Nika is.

Or it's something simpler. Mario is a piece of shit, and since his was home alone when Nika and Bella broke into his home, he's basically responsible for what happen. His father was angry with him losing their heirloom and Mario, like the shitstain he might be, found a way to weasel out of his responsibility and blamed the most easy person he knew he could blame, Mila.

Thanks to WIAB, we know the police is corrupt and the Holgersons have a lot of power it seems, or, at least, they may have a debt to collect from some officer that falsified the report for them. So it's not farfetched to think that.
And even if not, Why accuse Mila? Because she's blonde? That's weak, don't you think? They charged her for the theft. So even in that situation, it ought to have corruption somewhere. Even Bella was surprised how fast they condemned Mila.

That why I had a more complicated scenario involving shenanigans in the spoiler. But the simple idea that Mario remembered Mila with a hobo guy and two nights later a blond and someone with dark hair like the hobo guy are seen in the shitty quality security footage of the cameras that are 'off' according to Bella.
All theories we have on this are conjecture, we simply don't know. In WiaB, Stefan is the most innocent character we've seen. Even Gefritzel is more corrupt than Stefan. Oh dang. Lucas might also be as innocent right now

With this present, could we hypothesize that Nika might have some "saints in heaven"? So even if, as Bob claims, Nika appears in the footage with an unspecified blonde, can they not point the finger at Nika?

Like I said, Mario's seen Nika once, and there was no name exchange, on a street. The Holgerson's went to the police before Stefan saw Nika at Relucia, and Mario's not there to notice Nika.
How exactly would Mario point the police to Nika?

Most likely they know who robbed and Bella will be told that she is on the hook, but everyone has some inexplicable motives. To look good in front of Amber and really find a way to her bed. And Nika on Amber's route will resist this.

You missed where I mentioned, in this scenario, Mario saw a blonde and a guy in the security camera, and remembered MIla with a dude that looked similar the previous day. Sure it requires police collusion or bad policing to take Mario's word for the whole truth, but it's a pretty plausible scenario - the rich home owner points to the child of a prostitute and says she did it, here' the blurry footage, I had a run in with them the other day.
Or he sees Nika clearly, but doesn't know who he is but remembers Mila was with him, and sees an out of focus blonde in dark clothes.
