He is. His Patreon got deleted, but he didn´t stop. He posts on Subscribestar currently. Dont know why he got the Abandoned Tag for it.

His last update is from Nov 17th.
You get the "abandoned" tag on F95 also when you do not post a new content update for 1 1/2 years. Which Ocean simply did not.

do u mean nika, nami and nojiko are blood related before?
Not really, Nojiko was their adoptive mother and Nika and Nami was written in a way you could take it as they were full siblings or adotive ones that both parentes died at the same car crash. I don't think that Ocean was sure when he write the first two chapthers and later on things got more blured. Now however they are only roommates and Noji is their landlady, do not think about it too much.

I know his Patreon got taken down but isn't the dev close to releasing the first episode of S2? I think I read the release of S2 ep1 will be within 2 months so why is it showing abandoned tag?

Yeah for me games with a super long dev cycle just kind of sit on my watch list with me pretty much assuming they're abandoned until they prove otherwise. If the dev has a history of massive updates that I have to wait a year and a half for that's fine. If I have to wait 2 years for a minor update then it's basically a dead game. So whether the dev cycle is long or short doesn't matter as much as the amount and quality of content produced per unit of time.

A more frequent dev cycle is better if the quality and quantity of content is identical, but I would take a longer dev cycle over a shorter one if it meant content with more depth and/or quality (which it frequently does for the best long dev cycle games). You can't do a big, in depth update in a week. It's just not possible. So a game with a super short dev cycle is almost always going to a less complex story. It could still be good, but it's less likely to be a story intensive game.

This game hasn't had an update in so long that I don't even remember any of the story (I've only played through 1 version of it and only once). I seem to remember thinking the quality was good, but where's the new content? So I still have the game on my watch list but I'm not really expecting to ever see an update.
The story is the quick bit. Exceptional graphics is what takes time... Full stop.

Rendering definitely does take a lot of time, especially if you are using animations. No way around that. Part of it depends on the game though. If it's a story intensive game the writing could take as much or more time than the rendering, especially if you're not that great of a writer.

I think one of the biggest challenges in developing small indie games like these is you're usually a solo dev and you need skill in 3 different things that aren't really related to each other. You need skill at writing, rendering, and coding. I think most devs are good at one of those, maybe 2, but usually not all 3. Personally I would say writing is probably the hardest of those 3 skills to level up. You can get better at all 3 but if you start off really bad at writing, you're probably never going to be good at it. I would say coding is the easiest depending on the engine.

Development continues but the tag is automatic after some time
If you talk about SG no one knows, the fanbase and me are trying to believe him.
But it's like Iscor,no one knows when it blows up.
Season one was a blast, but didn't cash at steam as he expected, cuz he changed the relationships origins and had to change music artist cuz most bands don't like sex based games, even SG has not even a kiss scene...

In general, there are three circumstances where it's reasonable to believe a game may not get another release:
- the creator announces they've abandoned it
- the creator goes dark unexpectedly on all platforms
- the game goes without being updated for a long enough period (even if the creator is still talking about an eventual release and releasing development updates about future content)

Particularly for the last, there isn't a perfect solution, but site rules here define an arbitrary cutoff at eighteen months (meaning mods don't need to perform an in-depth investigation and then make a judgement call).

It doesn't mean the game is actually abandoned, just that you might not want to hold your breath for the next update...
