Ya sounds like with the post-work he's talking about needing to do it's going to be a bit. I had hoped another 2-3 weeks max going off of previous logs but it's probably going to be closer to a month it sounds like.

Sad to hear on the music issues he's running into, hopefully he's able to find a solution. Music exponentially improves these types of games.
yeah, we could be lucky and the next dev log is in 1 week and the beta comes early

but i think its 2-3 weeks too

I would NEVER understand why anyone would pay a shitload of money for music when you can simply download the music.
It's free.
Not all music is free, and if they should free to use, they can ban the use of the titles for things like ...
adult content - and that is widely considered as porn. Copyright and licences are no fun, especially if you use licenced titles and make money with it.
Like i said in a other post, copyritght owners MAY be relaxed when thier product is pirated - they can call it free advertising. But if you start make money out if it you can bet that your ass is sued to hell and back.

See what Drifty did o_O
Secondly, I'm very happy to be able to announce that I've signed a $20,000 deal to secure the rights to use a huge music library for my next game. And before you ask me if I've gone completely bonkers, music - to me - is an essential tool to add yet another aspect of artistic freedom when designing the scenes and setting the mood. Without it, the game would be worse off. Sure, it's quite a bit of money, but I've always said that I want to use your support for the best of the game, and this is equally important as getting new 3d models, breast enhancement physics, and hardware.

So ****ing cringe seeing all these people defending this game here like a cult. You have a right to like it, just like other people have a right to criticize. Problem with Oceanlab is that he's a dreamer, that is good for creativity, but there is a business side of it. If he's in it to just make a romance non adult game, he can. He can release it on steam and sell it for money. Ultimately this is a porn game because it's here and it's labelled as such.

You want to venture out to achieve your dream in telling a story, like Detroit Become Human? There is many other story games out there.

Honestly I didn't want to write anything initially because I don't support this game, haven't played it, haven' paid anything, so Oceanlab don't owe me shit, but this game has always been interesting enough to be on my radar. The development cycle is a joke, deadlines are a joke, and things are slower than any of the other top developers who also makes great stories. What makes it worse is that, he somehow then dedicate more time for his other "child" WIAB, that is less popular. Honestly, I get people support Oceanlab given the great art and how he tries to make cinematography (which is bizarre cause why are you making a porn game), but wow, if you still support him after 5 6 months worth of delay, I'm sorry, I feel bad for you, clearly you are not financially responsible.

If anyone is still reading, well, thank you for hearing my rant. I can no longer hold back, Oceanlab is just a terrible businessman, terrible manager of his otherwise great talent. Oceanlab himself will probably never see this, but if he does, here is my unsolicited advice:
Prioritize, is it story? is it cinema? is it music? is it character development? Is this adult content? Make up your ****ing mind. If you don't have a big enough following or budget, you can't achieve your dream of wanting to do everything you want to. If you want everything, run a better business, have a steadier development cycle, hire and manage your talent properly. WAKE UP.
imagine being this mad over a game you have never played

Copyright infringement seems a nightmare to deal with. Look how Youtube suffered with the laws of different countries with the years.
replace "seems" with "is"...

Music copyright infringement is one of the worst because the music industry, for many years now, is fighting for it's survival. You will get sued left and right and to make an example of you they will sue for exorbitant sums of money.

If defs use copyrighted music they have to licence it, there is no way around!

... so you built your opinion about the def and the game based on what? ...comments within this thread? Are you serious? And on top of that you judge Oceans character without knowing any relevant detail about what drives his thought process much less decission making?
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
Don't put Ocean in the same basket with other defs ffs!

Edit: Since the thread was "cleaned" the toxidity against the def increased and is destroying the harmony we once had here!

Some music can give your game an extra boost but it can be a bad idea too. Many players don't even play games with sound, there have been several pols about it in the past. And don't forget not everyone is into the same music, so you can be going that extra mile for nothing.
Now, paying 20k bucks for visual novel music is just o_O I mean, there are Royalties free music in the net and even if you don't find anything appealing to you there you can make something like: Chapter 1 Wake up and smell the Coffee, Chapter 2 Lean on Me and so on. Players can play that music in the background if they want and nobody can sue you for it.

Tbh I could be one of those who once said "I don't play with music on" but I have been playing adult games for 5 years now, do you know how "music" was -and still is in some games- back in the days? a fucking loop with music from a mall center :ROFLMAO: I couldn't stand it.

Now games with a tracklist that adapts to the scenes is fucking amazing. And I am not the biggest fan of ambient sound and stuff but still is a nice touch. Wouldn't pay 20k for it but I respect it, and it would boost Oceanslab's confidence while working for sure.

So in resume, music from a mall centers and/or moans from porn it's asound off. A good tracklist that adapts to the scene BIG YES!
