Short? A regular chapter is ~2200 renders. Season 1 is 5 chapters. The first chapter of Season 2 is equivalent to the amount of renders in three previous chapters roughly. It will be the longest chapter Ocean's released. Very few other devs are dropping updates with chapters/episodes over 6000 renders.

Some of this is linkely branching for path specific content, so not all of it will be seen in one playthrough.
I dont think anyone is going to be able to do one full playthrough, this VN has 30 chapters planned and look how long each chapter is taking.

That's why I asked if he was short on money cause otherwise I feel like he would've hired people to speed up the development.
If it's 30 chapter then oh boy..

The guy is a perfectionist and probably thinks nobody is able to meet his standards, both of his games are doomed if he stays a solo dev IMO.
If he is solo I'm quite sure he will get burned out eventually and if he's making 2 games then prolly will abandon one in the future.

I think many would agree if the current development time stays the same way......yeah many will
never see it's completion. Just stating a fact..... Hopefully things will go faster but um yeah.....we shall see.:oops:

Some games are not meant to be completed, that's all. Their renders are too bright, their codes too complex and wild. So Devs let them go ... unfinished.

I dont think having a team means a faster development, see, one of the developers that delivers the biggest amount of content is Dr. Pinkcake, hes a solo developer. Ocean also releases a lot of content, even more considering hes producing 2 games at the same time. Now take Oppai Man's example (Fresh Women developer), he has a team working for him, at this point we can say they are a company, yet their updates has small amount of content and cant match Ocean or Dr. Pinkcake update size...i remember they even downgraded their renders with A.I some time ago...and they have people working and make a lot of money.
About being burned out, having a team doesnt means this will not happen, each member has their own work to do and it can still happen, i know they can hire someone else but the quality of the work can change and having more people brings some work-relationship problems, ppl in this field tend to not be the best ones to work with.
I personally think that Ocean and Pinkcake being solo developers is what gives their games the chance of reaching the end, because they seem to have the drive to finish it, i would add Nyx (Intertwined) to this mix too.

any info when next update is coming or how far is it
Based on the estimated number of renders we think it will be between May and June but we are not sure if this number will not increase and considering the additional things he is working on like the phone and new audio design similar to Summer Heat which may require additional time for polishing it may also be in July or most pessimistically in August

Played it again after more than a year. I find the story very interesting to say the least. Same for the characters. I get that a harem-ending is kind of unrealistic. But a triangle relationship would be what I want at the end in this case.

Hello,

With this Dev Log, we return to the old Bi-weekly Wednesday Dev log schedule.

So... after the last log, some complained that I didn't give as much info regarding the render count, etc.

I heard ya and from now on I will ban everyone who asks me that.

Of course, I'm just kidding and will, from now on, provide a bi-weekly render count + a total.

The reason why I stopped doing it is because a lot of expectations come with them.

The irony is, no matter how many renders I add, it's always too little.

People go ham with the conspiracy theories if there's a discrepancy between two weeks.

I could post a render count every week with the same amount of images added, and people would still find a way to uncover "the truth".

It's exhausting.

However, I like to be transparent, and a render total is a part of it.

The last total render count was mentioned on the 19th of December, just short of Christmas. I took it easier over Christmas and created all the Christmas Treats.

~3750 renders -> ~4790 (+ a hundred in the queue)

-------------------------
12 days ago, I said I'd count how many renders I do between Dev Logs to see how much the Workstation improves productivity.

I won't count two of these days because the first day was already over, and I took one day to care for some personal relationships.

Previously, I'd do and render around 20-40 daily renders and zero animations. (Animations would lock down the PC for the entire day.)

So, in 10 days of work with the new Workstation, I created AND rendered out:
641 still renders
7 animations.

It went from:
~300 to 671 images
0 to 7 animations.

I didn't completely reach my goal of 70 renders a day. (Average of 64).

However, new environments and giant scenes make this impossible if you want to maintain quality. Sometimes, I can only set up 20-40 images, while other times, I reach 80-100.

From now on, I aim for 70 renders a day, but I won't beat myself up if it's "only" 40-50. I still have my quality to maintain and improve.

The workstation peaked at 78 images a night the other day, and with that, it outperforms me, which is fantastic.

My old Workstation will render animations until they're all done.

Keep in mind that not all renders are exclusively for SG.

With the new Season, I'll introduce collectibles.
I'll do the layered renders for them at the end, but let me show you what kind of image might be behind them.

These images will thematically fit the scene in which they were found. You won't find a sudden nude Sasha in there, but you will find pleasant surprises.
There's another thingy I will introduce, and I'll talk about it in the next log.

Back to work.
