any info when next update is coming or how far is it
Based on the estimated number of renders we think it will be between May and June but we are not sure if this number will not increase and considering the additional things he is working on like the phone and new audio design similar to Summer Heat which may require additional time for polishing it may also be in July or most pessimistically in August

Played it again after more than a year. I find the story very interesting to say the least. Same for the characters. I get that a harem-ending is kind of unrealistic. But a triangle relationship would be what I want at the end in this case.

Hello,

With this Dev Log, we return to the old Bi-weekly Wednesday Dev log schedule.

So... after the last log, some complained that I didn't give as much info regarding the render count, etc.

I heard ya and from now on I will ban everyone who asks me that.

Of course, I'm just kidding and will, from now on, provide a bi-weekly render count + a total.

The reason why I stopped doing it is because a lot of expectations come with them.

The irony is, no matter how many renders I add, it's always too little.

People go ham with the conspiracy theories if there's a discrepancy between two weeks.

I could post a render count every week with the same amount of images added, and people would still find a way to uncover "the truth".

It's exhausting.

However, I like to be transparent, and a render total is a part of it.

The last total render count was mentioned on the 19th of December, just short of Christmas. I took it easier over Christmas and created all the Christmas Treats.

~3750 renders -> ~4790 (+ a hundred in the queue)

-------------------------
12 days ago, I said I'd count how many renders I do between Dev Logs to see how much the Workstation improves productivity.

I won't count two of these days because the first day was already over, and I took one day to care for some personal relationships.

Previously, I'd do and render around 20-40 daily renders and zero animations. (Animations would lock down the PC for the entire day.)

So, in 10 days of work with the new Workstation, I created AND rendered out:
641 still renders
7 animations.

It went from:
~300 to 671 images
0 to 7 animations.

I didn't completely reach my goal of 70 renders a day. (Average of 64).

However, new environments and giant scenes make this impossible if you want to maintain quality. Sometimes, I can only set up 20-40 images, while other times, I reach 80-100.

From now on, I aim for 70 renders a day, but I won't beat myself up if it's "only" 40-50. I still have my quality to maintain and improve.

The workstation peaked at 78 images a night the other day, and with that, it outperforms me, which is fantastic.

My old Workstation will render animations until they're all done.

Keep in mind that not all renders are exclusively for SG.

With the new Season, I'll introduce collectibles.
I'll do the layered renders for them at the end, but let me show you what kind of image might be behind them.

These images will thematically fit the scene in which they were found. You won't find a sudden nude Sasha in there, but you will find pleasant surprises.
There's another thingy I will introduce, and I'll talk about it in the next log.

Back to work.

Well I was hoping for a lot more info but eh.....it is what it is.
We got a render count he is closer to 5k in render, rendering between 40 to 78 renders a night. I say we got plenty, the update still is far away though but wirh the station is a lot more closer, I expect that once he starts postwork on WiaB SG will be done more quickly

~700 render per 10 days... he can do updates every 4 months with 7000 renders, like, wtf.
Is a avarage divided between the two games. So something closer to 400 SG renders per 10 days ? Also he must be fellling inspired with the new toy is hard to say if he will be producing as much in 3 months. Is really good numbers though, and if he makes smaller updates he can get them out more quickly and faster is better than bigger, it creates momentum.

Having a sense now of this information passed on by Ocean, when do you think the next chapter would be released?

Again, I thank you for sharing the log, it is very much appreciated!

Also, based on the numbers, for 7000 renders, the stills should be done by May if Ocean manages an average of 60 a night (30 per game), so 73 days of 30 renders. But that number might bump up sooner, once Ocean's doing the steam things with WiaB.

I still think that May/June is the most likely unless he is doing 10k plus, but I also am not the best person to s answer you that, there are people here who really understand how this things work.

Yeah it might be an average number between the 2 games, but like you said, if it is 350/400 renders each 10 days it's still a huge amount of renders, if he goes back to 3k renders per update we can have 3 updates per year with a good amount of renders.

Now I can belive in the 30 chapters for this game :KEK:

Well, the game is not just renders. It's great that rendering goes faster now than Ocean can prepare the scenes for the queue, but there's also coding to be done:
one line of code just for each render and animation, add dialog text lines, phone text messages, Aurora messages, variable import from season one, multiple choice menus, logic to follow different paths and choices, music for the scenes, now these collectibles (that means active button logic for each collectible scene), then the galleries: images, collectibles, achievements, animations, Nami's photoblog(?), scene replays... (Hopefully he learned by now how to create replays without duplicating game scene scripts), some things I haven't thought of...

Not to mention that there's going to be an actual coherent story in there, on those dialog lines, which no one but Ocean knows about how much is finished publishing-ready and how much he will re-think and re-write while coding it into Ren'Py.

It's a fucking mammoth job and a whole new (ball)game.
