we seeing 10 years in the making perhaps?
From what i know Ocean is making Two games at the same time so thats why it's been one year and six months without a update. So if you take that time frame and add it to boths games and how long and how many hours, days, week, months, years it will take to finsh Seasons then you have a good Estimate of how long it will be for updates.

Tough but I think it's good that he's making 2 games 1 tends to burn these devs out real fast. Make them lose interest

Thats like saying someone who loves cooking will ever lose interest, If it's your passion and not just a money making machine then you can never lose interest. And i think for a lot of Developers thats what making AVN's is only for the money few and i mean few have a real passion for making AVN's they see the success of someone like NLT media and all the money they make monthy and say hey i want to make that much. It starts out with Passion for making a AVN but once the Developer sees some level of success and the money starts to rolling in, then the passion fades and it's all about the money, money becomes their passion not the AVN the AVN is just a means to a end. Because we see the Developers that lose Subs there for money fade away and I always say never throw all your eggs into one basket, but when your income is linked to fans and them liking you thats not a very smart idea because you could lose your income at any moment and that means you have to hope your fans live for a very long time and continue to like you always so the money keeps flowing in.

You're missing the point. The burn out comes from working on one project only. Its the monotony that causes the burn out. Having a second project lets your mind focus on other things, refresh, and come back. Its like taking a break to go listen to some music, or having a day off and playing in the grass. Taking a break from writing your novel to do some short stories.

Brandon Sanderson has spoken about this in the past. He's pretty prolific, and he's talked about how he avoids burnout by just writing other stories. He takes a break from writing one project and just writes another project.

Exactly what I meant. You can't keep doing the same thing over and over again you gotta have something else going on. Most devs rush their games because of burn out they get from developing one game for a long period of time.

Can you afford to take a break when every month you make 10k or more? will you risk the loss of income for your little break because you are getting burnt out. I think not money is a great motivator, if a developer is making big money they wount need a break ,the lifestyle they live with making big money will not allow them to burn out. But if they have other means of making money then they can afford to take a break because making a AVN is not their only means of income. for instance NLT Media makes huge amounts of money every month do you think he works solo like Ocean no he has a team so he can take a break because he is not alone, but would he risk the amount of money he makes yearly to take a break i would bet not and if he did take a break someone would step in and look after things because he isnt riding solo.

But if you're doing 12 hour days in front of a computer to earn your money with no breaks, you burn out. Eyes need breaks, start seeing things blurry. Attention to detail fades. Changing paradigms helps you reframe the roadblocks, see problems in different contexts.

It really doesn't matter about how much money a person earns, being human means we needs breaks and we need to change focus regularly. Churning out renders is one thing, but being unhappy because today every pose looks like the same shit and stale, means you need a break from those images. Some friends overstay their welcome, it doesn't make them bad friends, we all just need reset time.

Ocean says it's to stop burnout, but really in my opinion, it's to stop it getting stale to him, keeping it fresh, getting different perspective when he goes into the computer cave every day for a long time. I get cabin fever sitting at my work computer, and I love my job. I also have 16 projects I'm currently switching between, and problems I solve in one inform me for the others. It is what it is.

I fully agree and I understand being on a computer for hours apon hours your eyes start to hurt and you ass in your chair beings to hurt. Thats why if your working on a big project like two AVN's it might be a good idea to get help, if i was working on renovating a house i would look for some assistants and thats manual labor not computer work were you sit on your ass which is not as hard try working outside for hours apon end and tell me computer work is hard. The whole working solo Ocean chooses to do I just don't get it.

Thats all irrelevant. Its like saying to the rank 700 player on the pro tennis circuit "can you afford to take a break when you make X or more? will you risk the loss of income for your little break because you are injured"? You don't halt because you want to, you halt because you have to. Because you CANNOT continue.

Burn out is when your mentality towards the thing you are working on becomes so shit that you can't make any progress even if you try. Its a mental guillotine.

Which is why you need other things to do. To reset your mind, to break away, to let your mind feel something else for a bit.

Creative endeavors aren't so pat and dry as "just do X" "just do it differently". Doubly so if the creator is going for any semblance of quality. And poopoo'ing a creator's methods, dismissing how one does it because another is more successful, or because you think your logic supercedes their personal experiences and methods only shows how little you understand the process.

Working solo on a huge project is asking to lose interest and asking to burn out, if you are working on a big project it might be wise to look for help so when you feel you are burning out or losing interest you can tell the other person to take your place while you refresh. But as it is right now Ocean doesnt have any help at all he feels he can do it himself forever so if he burns out or losing interest then it's on him and we suffer and lose all the money we have been giving him and I for one would be upset that my investment in him and it turns out to be for nothing I would feel cheated and hurt. moving forward when you think you can't and pushing through when you don't feel like it can mean all the difference in the world and that's how winning is done.

Thats not necessarily true. Working on everything yourself is also a way to avoid burn out. Doing character dialogue is different from touching up character models is different from putting together set pieces is different from coding the backend is different from creating collectibles. Etc and etc. Some solo creators avoid burnout by piece mealing the process, treating each segment of development as its own different thing.

DPC has talked about that, when it comes to BADIK.

Like I said, its not so pat and dry. Its not one-fit-all for all creators. Each one has their own hang-ups, their own mental blocks, their own hodge podge of personality quirks that they have learned to work with and around to create their projects.

I get that. As a freelancer in my situation, I have to hand everything over to a separate business, or I have to spend time managing other people, and being their quality control. That needs time away from being creative. Ocean is not a team leader, he's a creative. From experience, creatives are usually hopeless with timetables, delegation and working in a team, generally speaking.

And keep in mind, Ocean has gone for help, and been let down by the results so that he has to do it on his own. The phone is a great example, this current version is what, his 4th attempt? After trying three different people helping? If you can't find help of the quality you need to get the job done to your standard, you either waste more time looking for help after all the bad help, or you learn to do it yourself. Remmber the music issue? Everyone was upset Ocean was taking so long getting the music sorted, but he was trying not to throw bad money after good. His problem is that he is not a manager or team leader, but he also is the only person responsible for the end result.

THe last thing is exclusivity - as a creative, does he spend all the money buying duplicate assets for a second person to speed up renders, who then runs off with Ocean's investment, makes their own AVN with Ocean's customised characters?

I think also, the barn in WIaB and the sports field in SG are two areas that he got help for, and currently he has a graphic designer helping with the menus (both the game menus/gui and the food/drinks menus in the game). So it's not that he doesn't want help, but trust is hard to justify when you've been burnt with bad experiences.

It's a situation where Ocean needs a bunch of things going right for him consistently (getting on schedule, not running a pc into BSOD, etc), then he can spare the attention to seeing if there are people he'll trust.

I completely agree with the whole trust is hard to justify when you have been hurt with bad experiences, I don't argue that i've invested in others just to be let down time and time again. I do see if WiaB steam release is a success and season 2 chapter 1 of SG is a success that Ocean can maybe take some time off and see if he can find help. But then again will he just find people not up to his standards or people that can put out the quailty he is looking for ? The last thing i would think he would want is to put out a shit product just to receive a bad response. I would think he does a lot of double checking everything and maybe second guess himself quite a bit before putting anything out or it would be a good idea to do so I would think. If he would hire someone then they can maybe be blamed for some work they do but if he works alone then he is the only one to blame and we can not except a perfect product every time he is as others have said only human not a machine but I do see others including myself except Ocean to always be perfect and make no mistakes which isnt fair because we would not want others to except the same for us.:coffee:

Oh I can totally cope with something imperfect, as long as it's engaging. THe reason we debate SG and WiaB is because we find them appealing, not because they are perfect. Thre so many things I'd change. The rework shows that there's so many things that can be changed. Ocean second guesses all the time... somehow the results are still capturing my attention. Perfect is not his goal, getting people engaged with the story is the goal. The renders are a visual script, just as much as the text is for reading, there will be typos and faux pas visually and grammatically. Like every AVN or AAA game I've played. The joy for me is the AVN is a window into a different world, and I want to know what happens.

We'll put up with everything but a shit story in the meantime :coffee::sneaky:

I noticed the Character Models of WiaB the old version up to chapter 6 beta they was terrible. the back grounds was terrible the new version is way better it was a real improvement, as well as the old version of SG the Characters and back grounds was terrible, the new version of SG is way better. I approve of Oceans new works on both games, the storys also on both games is so different from the old to the new.:D:coffee:

Yeah, you can see in Ch6 there that when Ocean probably got his first "good" video card, or there was a massive update to the assets he could buy on the DAZ store. Happened in SG around the same time, Ch3 I guess. That's why the rework happened, everything before that change was visually cringe. There was great potential, but it was fumbling around. Now Ocan's consolidated his style.

Those feels when people tell you how great old SG and old WiaB were and there was no reason for reworks:

The problem was never the visual upgrade brought by the remakes, but the fact that it took six years to complete while the story barely progressed. The main character is still not in any kind of relationship with any of the dozens of love interests, unable to engage in any sexual activity, and not even one in-game month has passed during all this time.

The visual improvements are nice, but if you're not hardcore into these characters, you'd expect a lot more after half a decade of development. Same with the other game. Started in 2018 and it's only at Chapter 3? Chapter 4 has been in development for over a year now.

Again, if you're not deeply invested in these characters, it's easy to forget even their names and storylines over time, for example i can't even tell wtf its about after all this gap time.
