I realise this is probably an annoying question for people who have been following this a long time but can someone succinctly catch me up on the history/lore of this game's development? It seems oddly complicated. I've seen some references to the current release being censored or edited down from an earlier (better?) edition, is that why development has been protracted? Did that also involve removing sex scenes or were there never any to begin with? And has the dev basically declared that there won't be any real sex scenes going forward?

I'm sorry but there are over 2400 pages of posts on this thread so I'm simply not going to try to wade through them and figure out what the deal is.

At first OceanLab was only supposed to rework the first two chapters to improve the art and sell a more balanced version of the game on Steam, without a big quality gap between the different chapters in term of render quality. But he didn't like the old Nika who was, for lack of better term, a real shithead with psychopathic tendencies, so he also rewrite a lot of scenes and even introduced new characters like the angry beanpool and the chick with silver and red hair.

But at the same time, he also decided to completely rework his other game WIAB.

Then like a lot of developpers, he faced copyright complications because some bands weren't ok with their track being featured in adult game.

Then he removed some "lewd" content because Steam doesn't allow sexual content for German players.

Then he had a lot of material problem, a conflict with a collaborator, he started to learn to use Blender and of course he has been tormented by german taxes but the topic is so complex that it couldn't be summarize in few words :unsure:

As already mentioned by The Krogan Dude, plus:

- there were no sex scenes. Only thing close was an assjob that didn't even reach satisfaction in the game. No sticky fluids from the MC anywhere in any version.
- the censorship was to remove legal issues mainly, and then get the percentage of boobs down to a level that steam would accept for 16+ in Germany. But it didn't work.
- The next season is 18+ and going forward, all future releases are 18+. This doesn't mean there will be sex scenes in the next season, more likely blowjobs, the replaced assjob etc. The MC is mentally impotent right now, won't start running before walking.

The rest of the history of the game's development has been debated too long.

If you want to see what kind of sex scenes Ocean can do, there are some in his other game, which is getting a release in less than a fortnight, it's set 20 years before this.
