Now, the question is when the game will be sent to Steam. The release was planned on December. Then Patreon was nuked and game was delayed to prepare for Steam release. It still means that it should have been complete this month. But we are still making cinematics. What about coding? Phone?

He is starting to work on Wiab from January 14th. What happens on January 14th? Additional job won't speed the development process as well.

When searching for the word "Eternum" I found Summer's Gone [S1 Steam + DLC] [Oceanlab], based on which I assess that this happened to me because each new update of Summer's Gone takes eternity.

I mean, perhaps I should also say a few words on why it matters that the game is released soon™ and not in a few decades when Ocean is ready at his pace as he seems to think the long journey doesn't matter and he'll get there in the end.

1. Technology keeps progressing, and his game will look outdated in a few years if it still hasn't been completed by then. He would end up stuck in infinite rework loops if he wants to keep modernizing his game as there would be more content to rework every time.
2. You don't know what the future holds, and the further in the future you're projecting, the more it is true. There could be war, there could be economic struggle... Patreon could shut down his pages (right?), maybe Steam next as a major offensive against porn games, and suddenly his full-time job working on his game could be jeopardized. How's he going to keep developing this game if he cannot pay his bills? Do it as a hobby during weekends? Considering how slowly he has made progress already as full-time...
3. People will get tired of the wait and move on, which will further hurt his support and ability to continue. Are you as interested in your TV shows when you wait 2-3 years before the next season? I know my level of interest drops.
4. He might also just end up burnt out or aspire at doing something else professionally in the future, and I wouldn't blame him for either, but that's why he should aim to have a manageable project.

These are simple reasons why any game studio at all never looks years in the future. This Patreon disaster was very predictable.

And no, his pace won't also magically get fixed by itself with "more efficient routine", longer hours or better hardware. These are marginal (albeit welcome) gains in the project scope.

Now multiply that by the number of months without upgrades and answer the question: what did we get from him in exchange for this money? Of course, it's a classic milking operation.

6,5k can be good but it depends a lot on his expenses (and i feel like its not smart to trust your numbers lmao). How much money did you payed? What did he get in exchange from you pirating his game and bitching about slow updates?

Anyway, seeing all this negativy and toxic happiness about every one of his fails, i would just take a bit more money and abandon everything in oceans place.

There is so much shit thrown his way, and while he took quite a lot of very questionable decisions, its just entirely out of proportion at this point. There are SOOO MANY way worse devs who still get good support and barely any hate while they are like ghosting their patreons for months.

By the way, I've been hearing these excuses about waiting another month for an update for the entire 25th year, and I've stopped believing it. And apparently for good reason: Ocean has been feeding these excuses to its naive subscribers for a year now, and I hope they become smarter in the new year.
