It's basically the opposite. Trans option from the beginning was removed as there are no trans characters for now. Dev plans to eventually add one someday in the future.

That's a bummer. I was going to download when I saw the tags, but given that the trans isn't even in the game yet after a few years, I guess I'll pass.

They really shouldn't have that in the tags if it isn't in the game. I thought common courtesy was to put it in a "planned tags" spoiler.
