Really? It is perfectly valid by your use of "making money of someone else's work." I applied the same logic. One person creates a thing, another creates a thing that needs that thing in order to function and makes a bit of money. Broken down to the bare basics it is the same.thats a stretch now
However there is something logically wrong, as you might have noticed when broken down, and that is the use of "making money of someone else's work.", because in reality they are actually making money as a result of their hard work through someone else's work. Which sounds fine, and why you probably would never have described it that way, because it doesn't evoke as much annoyance or anger when reading as "making money of someone else's work." does.
Put simply: They are making money by extension of someone elses work, and only making money on said extension, aka their work, not on the original work, that is gotten separately. Just like people who use game engines do.
