I think that the love of DC to this game is quite obvious since he hears the feedback in a nice way.
I remember last year that everyone was complaining about how Erik was a leech, and many people asked if it was possible to fuck both Ms. Johnson -solo- and June so Erik ended up alone. And DC said that he saw Erik behaviour as a "gaming" behaviour, an obstacle where an item is necessary to keep going with the story, nothing else, but he understood.
What happened since then? Erik started to be pro-active and totally helpful in the new quests. Teachers? He gives advice or when he has to ask something (the guitar) he didn't ask it for his personal gain, just to avoid what he thought that would be a trouble later. With Roxxy he refuse (and rightfully from his standpoint) to help the bullies at first. But eventually he even stand to Dexter, trying (and failing) to protect the girls. He won a lot of good qualities in the friendship aspect, to the point where seeing him get shunned by Eve or Roxxy feels bad.
So honestly, I don't think that DC fails in reading what needs to be done for his game. I think that the votes in Patreon do worse than a misconception from him at this point. Getting Eve instead of the Code Overhaul that should've come with Ms. Johnson and Erik is a problem from a design point.

Two things from what I gather. 1st being that her story was kind of short and didn't feel too complete, and 2nd being that most of it focused on her mother, so it felt more like a Helen route. Basically it was too small of an update to have a split focus like that.

She seems too plain for me, so I don't have too much interest on her. Still DC did an amazing job with Roxxy's story, who I didn't have much interest in either, so whatever character it is I'm fine and expectant of what they're gonna do. I don't have much interest in Eve either for example, but I'm quite curious and expectant for her update anyways.

I wasn't even complaining lol. All I did was just compare the content of two updates with two different downtimes and got a lot of heat for that haha. I lost interest as well. I never finished the teachers update either. It feels like the appeal is gone. The mom and sister pathway had a good story as well as the Mia update. The others are like bring that to get this. All similar. Killed the interest. But I am sure DC will figure something out and I am happy that other people still enjoy this game

Yeah, it should get expanded upon when her update gets voted for. In the last vote, she was in 4th place too, which would put her in 3rd place now that Eve is no longer an option.
For me, she was a bit typical in the sweet, girl-next-door type, but from the moment we got to know her, you could see the dirty side of her too ('repressed Catholic' trope). Like when you get her to agree to 'just the tip', and she is the one to push you to go further.
It would be nice if we could get her out of that cult, and get her to simply worship your golden idol. XD Start your own cult, with nothing but 'high' priestesses!

That would be perfect. And knowing that most probably the branching paths will get removed I would say that will be the case.
Yeah, DC seems to get that people don't really care for that kind of branching anyway. Personally, I like story branches for replayability, just not when they make me pick between women... XD

Branching story paths can work in fully finished games but is developed and gradually released they work terribly. Other stories will never reference them as it would require that twice as much work is done. It's why Trails in Tainted Space did not have a very good story, there are a thousand options but that just means a lot of really shallow options. If there is a set narrative then more focus can be placed on it, there's just no time to branch.

Lmao, the problem isn't branching but people like you here and on Patreon who are so impatient and annoy DC and the other team members so much they kinda lose motivation and focus. This results in pushed releases, oh surprise it will be bad.

compare all non branchig paths with updates that have branching paths.. The difference is Huge.
mom and sis updates were the best because of that. And sis is getting a new one on .18.

i wouldnt say Mia story is short(its kinda long considering you have to wait stages that take like 1 entire week without any advance to progress to the next stage),i would rather say it has little content involving Mia like the objective,since most of the story is about trying to make Helen stop to meddle with your relationship with Mia....you were there,trying to prove yourself to be THE GUY to her parents,witnessed the problems they had thanks Helen fanatism,saw her parents break up,and them she asks you to fix their relation and there's come the chokerpoint,here you decide if you began this story for Mia or for Helen,becuz after that point,is all about Helen(you already know her,but since the game stops the development with Mia,you begin to see more motives to like Helen),and after all your work and time wasted,you get to choose Helen or Mia...in the end,Mia story doesnt serve to develop her character,it serves to develop her parents story and background,and that's kinda a bummer,Roxxy's story that is just as long as Mia story develop all the characters involved with her,and makes you feel like you acomplished something,even the teachers story,who is way shorter than Mia and Roxxy's story,manage to make you feel like you did acomplished something...however you cannot really say that for Mia story,after all the shit you have to do,the only thing you can feel after that is the feeling of being an overworked mule,a total tool....
