Dunno the details, that's what she said last month when I asked the same thing. You'll have to wait and prod her more when she gets back online
Ah I see , that would irritate me to no end , all your history trophies and reactions gone on the first of the year , just like the carriage turning into a pumpkin at midnight. I feel for her that would suck

So might have been asked already but is there any estimates given on when the tech update is expected to be done? I mean far as I remember it's been over a year already since it started and the official site has it pegged as about 80% done so at this rate is it gonna be another 6 months or something?

I've been following the game for tens of years now. I don't know how long myself. The answer is: no, nobody can foresee that. Release of updates was always a big surprise. But I wouldn't count before summer, rather later

oh wise one how do you write it?
Salad .................. Pre-grade school knowledge aside, there's also this unknown place called Google that'll write for you when you ask it (also corrects typos).

It'll be 2 years at the end of March

You wut now ? The game wasn't around Patreon 8 years ago, how'd you follow it for "tens of years" ? Tens of years is at least 20 years ago, when the interweb was barely around, or are you going back further ? When PC's took 15 mins to boot up and still had floppy disks ? Surely DC was already working on the game before he was even born

It's just a translation mistake. I am not a native english speaker, I'am from Germany. Tens of years; or several years = "zig Jahre".

Yikes it's been that long already. I have to say that this whole thing has me thinking about a comment I read about porn games like these not having any incentive to actually finish. Like while I don't mean to bash on the game or devs spending probably 30-36 months on a tech update for a game with a team of according to the patreon site at least 5 ppl, according to the goal of getting about 25000$ per month would have at least 5 ppl, but their actually getting about 65000$ so no idea if they hired more or not, and yes there are expenses outside of just wages and they don't actually get the full 65000ish $. I mean the longer they drag it out the more money they get. But yes I have no experience in game development so I have no idea if upgrading the tech of a semi finished game for that long with a dev team is normal or not. I mean with a budget of about 2.34 mil $ and about 2-3 years time wouldn't that have made a pretty decent game already?

The game is pretty damn decent if you ask me. Sure, the writing is kinda bad, gameplay-to-scene ratio could be better for most quests and there's more general flaws, but you can't deny that this is still one of the best games out there and has been getting developed for like 8 years now. That's pretty rare in the Patreon porn game scene, of course most of that longevity and success is for a large part thanks to the patrons, but those patrons donate because it's a good game in the first place. People forget to appreciate this game for what it is, and you don't have to pay a dime.

Now when it comes to DC maybe taking his sweet time on purpose to stretch out his revenue stream as long as the majority of patrons are willing to put up with it, I think it's unlikely but not as impossible as some people claim. But that's all useless speculation. Does the tech-update take too long? Yes. Could he have paused his Patreon some times to show some good will, especially since he totally doesn't care about money? Probably. Does DC earn too much? Yeah. Does it really matter all that much? Fuck no, it's just a silly game to bust your nut to and the dude who develops it gets rich from it. I say it's a win-win.

They hired 2 new dudes for posing tasks.

Patreon isn't run on a budget : DC and co get what the people wish to give them. What he does with it afterwards doesn't concern us. Duders have been whining for those 2 years about hiring 5x more devs and co-making both the normal and the tech update in parallel, cause 60k/month huehue ...... DC then decided to lol at them and do what he pleases (like any dev would do) and not care about any1 who both doesn't pledge + never will and spends most of their time crying it takes too long for their free game to get updates (even though they get something every 3 months or so)

Then you got the other pet-peeve of the ragers : coder dude is working part-time. Which in their eyes is the worst affront to mankind since pineapple on pizza. Therefore DC should hire 20 more coders and whip them into working 24/7, defeating the main point of the tech build altogether : have 1 codebase that will help the devs to make builds better and less of a hassle between updates/bugfixing .......

Like the last 498316578943654365 times it was brought up in here : no, $/month isn't the problem. No, $/month won't do anything, even if it dwindles to 5k/month. No, DC doesn't give a flying buttfuck about what any1 in here cries about daily. This can go on for a few more pages

It's a harsh conclusion that most whiners can't deal with : stfu and wait. It'll take the time it takes, even if that time is more than 2 years for a re-code

I think I've played the game either last year around march or september. Any relevant updates since then that makes it worthwhile to start a new game (as I don't have my saves anymore) ?
It's mostly just extra scenes with the same characters or side characters, no big character arc for any main girl. You won't be missing out on much if you decide to wait till tech update or use the phone and unlock gallery.

On the ppl working on the project I am only stating the patreon goals themselves that say's that they would hire one or more ppl depending on the goals reached, so according to the patreon goals at least 4 ppl "should" be hired outside of the initial dev.

I am not saying they have to do whatever with the money. Though as someone who has been a patreon for some games on here, which includes this one, trials in tainted space, corruption of champions 2, peasant quest, a struggle for sin and some others. I do wonder sometimes where the money goes and I do think that sometimes it's worth to ask what is happening with it. Instead of just getting all mad and defensive. Yes them getting a lot of money as an appreciation is a large part of it though at the same time a patreon pledge, at least for me, is to support someones work in a certain area.

I do however understand that patreon and such is not a "we pay you to meet X quota or do Y work". But I always thought it was called a pledge because creators promised to do something in exchange for getting money.

On a different note I do really like this game but I guess I'll check back in half a year or something.

That 25k pledge goal was to hire the coder at all, which DC did over 5 years ago. He then got 3+ dif coders through the years since then (and the ungodly naked stream) ......

Nope to the last part : you pledge to show the dev you like whatever he does and to say "thanks, keep on going" (the #1 overall Patreon account dumps podcasts for a living. Dunno how or why, but he still makes at least 2x to 5x what DC does). What you get in return (or what the devs give back) is what's in the pledge tier/rewards. Another harsh truth : the game isn't the reward you get when you pledge (mostly because it's free to any1 and that DC would continue to dev it even if he got 0$/month)

Never back a dev on Patreon expecting anything in return (unless it's a sleazeball that paywalls his stuff behind higher tiers). You'd be better off on Kickstarter if you want $ = results (and most of the time pure scams, yes real scams, not what moaners are crying in here)

If that is a thrust of your argument, DC already surpasses your expectations:

DC +
  1. Sploosh
  2. coder
  3. sound/music guy
  4. poser 1
  5. poser 2
  6. animations
And recently, "also added a few extra posing devs to help speed it up..."

I may have left out someone (and, if so, Omnikuken or j4yj4m will correct me) - and I didn't include non-game specific roles (web server, etc).

So he has hired at least 4 people outside of himself.
I do wonder sometimes where the money goes and I do think that sometimes it's worth to ask what is happening with it.
He's an individual running a privately owned organization. What he does with the monthly donations is his business, and only his. If it was a publicly traded corporation, then stock holders would have the ability to look at the books. If it was a registered non-profit, then he would have to make his business known. But as a private organization, you can ask and you can wonder - but that doesn't do a thing. You are neither a stock holder nor a stake holder, neither are the people who donate to DC on Patreon.

I think this is where people confuse purchases, contracts, investments, etc with the Patreon model of donations.

It was 1 poser. DC then hired 2 more during the last 2 years for the tech. Out-sourced animator wasn't part of the pledge goals (since DC was making them for a while)

Understood about the animator ... but still satisfies the complainer's contention of "should hire at least 4 people" (and hire another person per $10k)

Also - are you sure he didn't contract a few more posers recently (per the Christmas patreon post that Hero1 copied to this thread)?
