One of the biggest problems with Patreon games is a developer has to be upfront with their development cycle. Overall, the less information you give the better because you are setting yourself up for a lot backlash when ultimately you are not able to provide your deliverables in the promised time frame.
A prime example of this is the tracker. You provide a tracker to subscribers. It is great. It lets people know how far you are until your next update. In this case, Summertime Saga had a great tracker. It was multifaceted with a separate section for Coding, Art, etc. Nevertheless, once the tech update hit, the percentage started to stagnate. The reason given was that the more they opened the box, the more things there was and is to fix. So they kinda stopped updating it. Also at the same time there's no tracking of the progress even now. Sure, the dev is posting every month what they do, but to be honest, they're just words on a page and a long list of jargon the average person doesn't understand. However, if you were to ask him, how much are you done with this tech update I doubt he would have an answer for you. It seems a little disingenuous to not have a percentage in mind. 50%? 60%? You cannot point to the tracker as you've shown that its unreliable.
I always do wonder why they point to the deficiency of their coding to do a tech update. Is it ever worth it? Shouldn't you just grit your teeth and deal with it? Idr of a single game that did well after a major tech update (in the porn genre that is.)
This is just word vomit and I find it cathartic to express my opinion on this thread when I've been waiting over 5 years to play this game as I am autist and wanted to wait until the game was over to play it.
