if you look at the release note on patreon page, a lot of the code was changed to allow for DC to add ability for previous save games to work. this is a WHOLE brand new version of game that been redone, so the code will not be compatible with older versions, which is why old saves don't work in this new version.

Not 100% sure, but this could mean, your saves in this version of game may work in future versions, not seen this confirmed but its possible.
