Again, a common misconception. It depends upon the jurisdiction. For example, in the USA each party is held responsible for their own case and attorney costs. If an IP holder wins a case, they can request in their claim for compensation of attorney fees and the like - or if it is determined by arbitration or mediation, it could be part of the agreement between the parties. A respondent must file a countersuit or subsequent action in order to attempt to receive funds for such compensation. As such, it would need for the respondent to show that the original claim by the IP holder was frivolous, or similar.

That would be something which is actionable for DC to claim IP infringement. DC has held at least one other developer accountable.

Okay, I knew there wouldn't be any new additions, but the dude is just casually admitting that one of the main sales pitches for the tech update, updating the art, he didn't do it. AND he's being snarky about it.

DC just wanted to draw backgrounds and wallpapers of his characters, whilst keeping the cash coming in.

I'm predicting that whenever the Patreon money actually does dry up that he announces that development on Summertime Saga is ending effectively immediately, and that v0.20.15 is the "final" version he always intended (since he never finished the "tech update"), and will claim it's because of [insert excuse here] when really it's because he doesn't want to actually have to work for income anymore.

My money is on him blaming AI training on allowing people to easily rip off his art and him getting all melodramatic with the "Woe is me, the artist, whose talents are no longer needed thanks to AI" spiel.

If they manage to make an update after this flop I personally am hoping for some content like fuck Tammy in front of Erik or June in front of Erik or a threeway with June and Tammy and Erik watching optional. Honestly based on the rest of the games vibe it shocked and disappointed me when not only was that not an option but you actually had to choose one or the other even though he is pretty much a voyeur/ cuck character and this is a harem game. I mean harem games seem to be a pretty simple equation to me make all girls/ fuckable charaters available but up to player choice to view the content. Also a Trans preggo Eve would be a funny addition, along with Debbie and even Roz well shit just about every character without the option should be given the option to be pregnant, though atleast you didn't do the number 1 fuck up of all devs and pregnancy by making it the fucking epilogue.

Money for nothing. These 2 years could have been put to actual work on progressing and advancing the game with more features, and all that money just went into a personal piggy bank without any of it showing through in what was delivered, again, after 2 years. Mostly what's to blame however is his foolish patrons for voting on such a stupid update. I'd imagine the people that said yes to that probably all collectively feel like it was a huge mistake (what few of them are actually aware of this, after 2 years of waiting).

Who noticed $5 here and there out of a bank account when the person is dead :unsure:

well. if it is a joint account it immediately transfers to the surviving owners
if it has a pay on death target, it immediately goes to them
otherwise it will be handled during the execution of the will, which can take some time.
if the will misses it, it can take years before it ends up in the govt hands, which then holds the money and waits for the rightful owners to claim it.

But let's do a mental exercise on the idea that every single death is not reported through official channels or by executors of the estates...

Let's extrapolate - at his highest, DC has had about 32,000 subscribers. On the average - probably about 22,000 subscribers over the course of the 8 years he's had his patreon. 2% of 22,000 is 440 (this number is obviously rough - because some patrons stopped subscribing prior to dying and there is always new patrons taking their place... but let's make this simple, shall we?). The average subscription per subscriber is $2 USD and some change. We'll round up to nearly $3 USD to make this simple.​

That's $1,200 per month of the $50-$60,000 per month he'd be receiving from every death of every subscriber, assuming their accounts never ran out of money from all the other bills that were taken directly from their accounts with auto-pays, cards expiring, etc - and that the financial institutions never received any noticed of their death. Pretty much a drop in the bucket.​

While, yes, it can be a couple of months from the time a person dies to the time an account is frozen - not allowing assets to be moved in either direction - it is negligible in number, relatively speaking.
