You make a valid point. Patreon contributions are entirely voluntary, and fans choosing to support the developer are doing so knowing full well that the game is offered for free. It's all about personal choice—people are free to support or withdraw support if they feel the development process doesn't meet their expectations.

It's also important to remember that crowdfunding, especially in creative projects like game development, is often unpredictable. Just like tipping a busker, as you said, you're not paying for a guaranteed final product on a set timeline—you're supporting the creator and their process. And in the case of Summertime Saga, it's clear that the developer hasn't promised anything beyond what they lay out on their Patreon.

In any case, if people aren't satisfied, they have the option to stop supporting. The real key is transparency, and from what I've seen, the dev has been clear about the nature of the project.

The problem is that you have people on here treating it as a 'pay for the product' thing instead of just donating him. Sure, you can argue that the process of making the game is tied to said donations, and that development would likely stop if they halted now, but the fine print is still very much 'you donate him in his creative endeavour which has absono ETA of being finished'. Anyone who still wants to donate and does so, and the people frustrated by that very fact (and getting angry on their behalf like some soy eating SJWs) will just have to deal with it. Or just walk away, that is always an option.

Something I've said repeatedly on here, is that Darkcookie constantly switches gears and starts on something else on a whim. This entire game is just him playing around and testing out things he wants to do, and it's the reason why he goes back and improves the story/art/UI for literally everything.

Just recently, he decided that he was going to focus on finishing as much of the Debbie content/story as he could for the next update, instead of pushing forward on the Ronda content. Most would assume that he was going to stick with a plan, but that's just not his way of doing things.

Better to pay attention to the streams and accept that things are never going to go the way most people expect them to.

Untrue. He said an update every two months when he decided to release the tech update in chunks.

And you can be upset all you like, it won't change a thing. At this point it's basically 'old man yelling at cloud'-tier. People are paying him. Doesn't matter if we like it or not. Same how some people will actually be retarded enough to buy the PS5 Pro for 700 bucks. And if that legit upsets you that much, then I can only advice you to move on, because everything else isn't healthy.
