In reality quite a few of those, who had a wank to these videos may search for the game afterwards and find DC's homepage/patreon. That's one of the reasons why his patron count stays as high as it is.

Depends on who you ask. Officially the reason for lack of content is because of the tech-update taking way longer than expected to be done. There's a mix of other claims by people here that DC is milking this tech-update out on purpose.

• The tech-update is focused on recoding the whole game because it sucked and was a pest to work with.
• Bringing the whole game to 21:9 aspect ratio so we don't have those black bars anymore and fills the screen up nicely. That means redoing all of the art to fit the screen.
• Reposing character assets
• Improving UI and some art

The scope has seemingly increased though, to what extent is not sure but DC has worked on a lot of art, both new and improved, so we might see this update as a full overhaul of the game as opposed to just being purely technical enhancements.

like there are alot of other devs hiring co-workers to speed things up, Take NLT for example: those guys cranked up 3 huge games while this remake was being worked on.

Are you actually willing to explain the difference when it comes to advertising value? People see game X, want to play it, and download it. Does it matter whether you find that game here or on pornhub?

it is a bit disingenuous. this forum is 100% porn game enthusiasts. we are more likely to spend money on porn games, we are the direct target audience. i would think the people on pornhub are watching a vid, spanking it, and then closing their tab after post nut clarity more so than running to patreon and signing up.

At least I explicitly didn't say that, though. I just said that F95 matters less to SS than it does to most other games around here and that it has significant other sources of attention. And I'd stick to that opinion. There's just no way that tens of millions of views don't lead to an substancial increase in revenue for DC.

Edit: It really doesn't take a lot of people by these standards. He's losing about 3.000 to 4.000 patrons a month, so all he needs is another 3.000 to 4.000 new ones to subscribe.

You'd think so, STS is a pretty big game with a lot of content and a sandbox element to it, and apparently they didn't estimate it would be as much work as it is and there were some development issues. Still, with all that, 3 years is way too fucking long, no one's going to deny that.

I don't know why he doesn't hire more or better developers, maybe there's a good reason for it, throwing more people at a problem can often not work, or even make it harder. Maybe DC being as bad at managing as he already is, doesn't want more people under his wing that he needs to manage, or he's just too lazy to do so, he always says he just wants to draw. Or maybe he's a cheapskate, or wants the progress to go slower so he gets more money for less work.

Who tf knows, its a shitshow.

Edit: Of course DC himself does stream several times a week on picarto, which (next to his own viewers) in return generates quite a bit of third party content on youtube, facebook, X & co. simply because people rip off content from his stream and post it as news.

By the sounds of the recent announcement, they likely got over ambitious with some of the improvements they wanted to implement. The fact that the coding completion amount is still so low is a little confusing though since, unless I'm mistaken, this is a renpy game. Maybe they're trying to improve those bad mini games or something. Anyway, by the sounds of it the full tech update is still months away. Maybe even years. Maybe they'll still have patrons by then who knows?

Well, that was most likely the case in the last statements. Hiring more people with better skills actually elevates the management aspect, as you could focus more on proofreading and directing the flow of work.

Hell, even people with coding skills here would be willing to help him for free to some extent to get the updates out faster. you just need to be sincere about the shit.

I think he's genuinely just too lazy to manage people doing work. Hiring people with better skills will elevate the management aspect, but DC doesn't want that, he wants shit to be as laidback as possible and just draw stuff.

The problem is that this game is forever in this state. And the abandoned tag itself will never change anything on a global scale. It's just nice that abandoned game now have the abandoned tag.
