Good animation and good character design, something that most porn games dont have. You mostly choose between 3D grotesque designs with animation or good 2D designs with powerpoint animation

The Abandoned tag is a very powerful thing - it either shames developers into releasing something, anything at all - to get rid of it and save their revenue stream, or it serves as a warning to enjoy the game for what it is and not get too invested. Either way, it's a positive for the players.

We are getting a release at the end of the month because of the abandoned tag so yeah the tag is a big deal.

I wouldn't be able to properly answer your question, but I'd say the art style really appeals to me, it can sometimes be a bit ugly and I'd like for DC to improve on some things, but it's an art style that is very easy to look at and feels natural. Other 2D games, like What a Legend for example, also have a great art style from an objective point of view but don't appeal to me all that much when it comes to actually finding it hot. Of course, animations play a big role as well.
But even apart from the actual nude/sex scenes, there's a lot of soul in Summertime's world because of the art and attention to detail that make it fun to play around in.
I also like the way StS sets up events and quest progression, can't elaborate on that due to not having experience in game design/writing but I think StS manages to play well with the fantasies of the player. I dunno, there just hasn't been a game that hits the same as Summertime Saga and evidently a lot of people agree with that sentiment because it's the most popular 2D adult game out there.

Paradise Lust is a game with a lot of talking to build up to events that are...more talking with a little activity. Paradise Lust 2 is exactly the same.

Honestly, yeah, StS just hits different. Its a fun, chill game with engaging, well-written characters and beautiful art. A lot of people shitting on it now, pretending its trash, but it is STILL the high bar in 2d sandbox point & click porn games. 3 years out from a major update and it reigns supreme in both quality and quantity. That, gentlemen, is why this game still has patrons. Because every thing else low key sucks ass in comparison.

Summertime Saga's artstyle is one of those that wouldn't be out of place in a a late 90s cartoon (apart from the adult stuff, of course), and I think that is also where the appeal lies. It's why gags visual like the whole backpack thing doesn't feel as out of place as it would in more realistic looking games.

Truthfully, I'm excited for the update but these past two years have made me nothing but skeptical not to mention I've already questioned his work ethic in the past regarding pathetic updates.
That's definitely true. More and more people are discovering the game so it's not a surprised that he's getting new patreons and is probably why it remains stable even with the lack of updates.

Unfairly slapped with the Abandoned Tag. It just takes a lot of time to update, that all. The Tech update took this long because of many factors that likely saw good ol' Dark Cookie slowed down, but mainly, this is a major update, where the entire game has been pretty much re-worked, and not just that. They didn't just modify existing stuff, but also added new things as well!
Overall, when it does come out in full, it would seem worth the wait. Especially with the content planned after this, which I don't think will take another TWO FUCKING YEARS TO COMPLETE!
I am willing to be patient. Also, if any F95 Admins read this: Take off that shameful tag. It ain't worthy of being there.
