I think you are pretty much misreading your own numbers. The drops mean patron turnover. In theory it just takes 7 to 10 months or so (50k/7k, 50k/6k or whatever number you want to take) for every patron to be replaced.
Sadly patreon doesn't release these numbers (I'm not even sure if devs can see them) but I'd be very interested in the average time someone is actually subcribing to DC/other devs. I suspect that the number of longterm patrons is indeed not that big - smaller at least, than many would guess.
It's easy to forget that DC caters to a massive global casual audience, and if you've got a market of several 100 million people, it's not that hard to find 7000 people a month who are willing to subscribe for some time. At least not, as long as you've got a game that's as well known as SS. I mean, just take a look at youtube or popular porn video platforms. There are pretty recent SS videos with 100k views+ - some older ones even have millions of views. And people are really asking where DC is getting some 1000 subscribers a month? Do they not know, how easy horny people tend to spend a few bucks?

For me a few years ago it was the best and most innovative game in this porn genre. But I've been out for a long time and barely in this thread anymore. There were hardly any updates anymore. Does anyone know what it looks like currently? Nothing seemed to have come out this year, not even a pre-tech update.

The game itself has improved significantly and the tech update should increase the overall quality again.
They massively missjudged the effort it would take to create the tech update as they wanted it, and das such everything is just taking time. People may call that however they like.
DC himself is certainly working. He just streamed a few hours ago and there's definitely a good amount of Ronda art, beyond the tech update, done.
I know there are quite a few who don't appreciate these things, but the fact that DC still cares about details after such a long time and seems to be as motivated as ever, makes me somewhat confident, that we'll get all of the content (Ronda, Judith, Annie, the dating system, the prom, the reworkes, etc.) eventually.

Dunno about eating good with an update after how many years, which also came with the patreon compliant rewrites, defeating a lot of the purpose of the game.
