Just an observation - not knocking the dev, the subscribers, the players, or anything. But I do find it odd that this is called a high quality dating sim - when it's not really much of a dating sim, nor is it very deep. The "routes" are pretty straightforward and are easier than most point & click adventures released in the 90's. The lewd scenes look good from a graphics perspective (the artwork definitely is well done and the animations take a while to make, and I prefer this style over the hundreds of 3D rendered types), but seriously - there's really nothing to them aside from - engage in sex, with *maybe* an option for another angle in some cases, speed up/down and finish button. The game truly feels a mile wide but an inch deep in the way it's made. Oh well, just some rambling/ranting on my part, I'm sure my thoughts are probably invalid/incorrect anyways. /shrug

From a quality standpoint this game should be wrapped up and a new game started if it remains a story driven game. I can see why he is doing it this way but no one should be defending it.

It's nothing like a GaaS model. It has no characteristics of a GaaS Model.

There are no microtransactions.
There is no pay-to-play subscription model.
There is no statement made that subscriptions or donations speed up development - the only statement is "you get to help [DarkCookie] financially which is greatly appreciated."

That's it. You're confusing the idea because it's simply a free-to-play game and free-to-play game developers can use the GaaS model. But this doesn't walk like a duck or talk like a duck.

As for 100, 200, 300 NPCs? Some people don't want content to end. Some would like to see content continued to be created for as long as the development team likes. Unless you just want DC to stop after the tech update, Rhonda update, Annie update, and Judith update and round out the dance selection. If that is all you want - then feel free to stop playing when that gets done. No one is stopping you. But since 2017, DC has made it very clear that as long as fans continue to like the game and want more content and he continues to enjoy making content for this game --- he's going to keep working on this game. It's his game and his choice.

Last time I mentioned it, it was deleted so it probably will again.
So I agree its a f2p game that is taking aspects of the GAAS model to make money to its detriment.
I personally will stop playing the game and following this thread if scenes for Rhona and Annie ever get added since that's what I am waiting for.
Its his game so his choice, I am only offering my opinion that a sequel would be better than a very bloated story focused game.

Wow Ok.
It seems his patron page has been amended since last time I checked.
It no longer has the incentives it had just a few weeks ago. Kudos for his team for changing it. Wonder if it been mentioned here was a factor since I believe there WAS an incentive for a very long time on his page that has only just been removed.

The change does undercut my greed argument. The only parallels now is the endless development with a different optional subscription model.
I still don't like even the idea of over 300 NPCs. If the original cast ever have scenes particularly Rhonda and Annie, I will indeed stop playing and following this thread. That is really all I am waiting for.

He hasn't made any major changes to his Patreon about page in over 2 years. Also, his tier benefits haven't changed.

You must be thinking of a different developer.

That's always been there. It's never been deleted. But, that doesn't say what you implied in your previous post:

It just says he can spend more time instead of only doing this in his free-time. Imagine how slow this would take if he had to earn a living doing something else. Imagine the coding nightmare this would be if he was still trying to code it himself while working another job.

I get what you thought he meant from that statement - but there are no incentives promised to players about speeding up development. From my understanding, he has never even hinted in a post nor on stream to people asking for more donations so that they can get the next update out faster.

It still doesn't compare to a GaaS model.

The term 'dating sim' and 'visual novel' have been pretty watered down in the western part of the market. Kinda interesting, since every western game pretty much defaults to harem route with rarely (if ever) the girls having separate fleshed out routes to encourage replayability. Western games generally are very one and done.

New version is 7 months old. The topic comes up nearly daily about which version has what content.

Ngl, didn't think of this word. Typed "changes", saw 50 pages of results, then checked changelog, saw 100 different names and because don't have any ingame knowledge it tells me nothing then I gave up and asked. Not enough time for digging, so usually I'm doing only basic research in such big games topics.
