Fixed that for you.
No you don't. They make Updates every two Months so helljack's Guess is right as long as there won't be more delays of Content like a fourth or fifth Update. But even then, your "Fix" is still wrong.

This game is a textbook example on why fully refactoring your code is usually a bad idea.
They needed to make it because the old Code was at it's maximum. Any more Updates with the old code as it was could have breaking the game so they needed to make a new Code.

In those situations, you don't simply trash away the old code and restart from the scratch; you do a bunch of small and gradual changes, while keeping the software functional through the whole process. Identify the most pressing issues, refactor that specific bad piece of code, repeat as needed.

Otherwise, you end with two versions of the same software: old, buggy but full of content vs. new, clean but missing a lot of stuff. And either you stop developing the old version altogether (bad) or you reduplicate efforts backporting new content to that version (also bad).

Dumb names are easy to solve: find and replace. A variable (or label, or whatever) behaves the same no matter if you call it "imdrunkcodingthisshitlol" or "anon_stat_strength". So that is not a reason to restart from the scratch, since you can rename one thing each time without affecting the end result.

What takes way more effort to solve is stuff like bad logic, spaghetti code, etc. Then it's like I said, isolate a problem each time and fix it. You might introduce some bug elsewhere depending on how much of a spaghetti your code is, but even then it's better than nothing.

Since you're such an expert, why not hit up DC and offer to work for him? The patreon funds his entire team, not just him. You could make some big bucks...

DC stopped developing the original (stable version) and started on the WIP, so you're on the mark there. Whether or not it was the right call? That's up to him I guess. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of content is finished but not plugged back in to the game, (main story, Eve/Grace/Odette/Becca/Missy/Roxxy etc.) making it look like there's nothing being done.

I suspect that Debbie is what's holding up the show on the newer content not being implemented. She's littered throughout just about every route, and if there are outstanding errors/omissions in her art then everyone has to sit around and wait for DC to finish his self-imposed side quest to revamp her route first. I imagine the biggest issue is her soon-to-be-implemented pregnancy; making sure her belly state is constant and functional across all her appearances in the other routes is going to be a pain in the ass, and he may have not finished all the unique pregnancy art yet.

I think that sums it up nicely.
