How much or how little of it you enjoyed isn't an argument for (temporarily) removing almost all of it. Likewise, how much or how little anyone spent on it doesn't excuse the state of the game after 8 years.

As for being mad, I doubt anyone in here really is. The update was shit, although even worse than expected, so it's more fun to bitch about it than to replay what little content there is. A few days from now everyone will have moved on and we'll all reconvene in two months, when the next thoroughly disappointing update drops, to bitch about it some more.

My point is it's likely people didn't even value the content when it was there considering the people that paid for it (when they voted for more) kept voting for the same 20% of content. So the fact that most of the content people were uninterrested in disappeared but thats one of the main hooks to your argument seems weird to me. Why do you care? But also, to undo and redraw EVERYTHING is going to look like, well... THIS. This is why most of these porn games, Hollywood movies, and TV shows are in 3d. Drawn shit takes WAY too long to make. There's nothing out of the ordinary with this kind of set-up and the probability of greed being the main driver is low in my opinion for the above reasons.

But as for your 2nd paragraph, thats my point. you're pretending to be assmad and your reason is because its fun. Can't argue with that dude. It took a really long time and we kinda have to start from scratch cuz thats what happens when a person who has never coded before makes a game with massive feature creep.

By that logic development of the game could've stopped 6 years ago and there's no need for further updates cause everything you assume people ever cared about is already there. The only possible improvement would be to discard the rest of the game and start a spin-off focusing exclusively on those 20% of content, whatever they may be.

I didn't pretend to be assmad, the most I can muster is some level of surprise that the tech update turned out to be significantly worse than even the most rabid doomsayers predicted.
As for starting from scratch, wasn't that what the tech update was supposed to do 2 years ago? I thought that was the whole excuse for all the lack of new content in the meantime.

Be that as it may, you seem to find my faux outrage as amusing as I find your willingness to defend even the most feeble excuses for underdelivering on the devs part.
We're obviously not going to convince each other and if you're honestly satisfied with the state of the game and the progress of development then good for you I guess.

it was billed as a 3-4 month tech update and ended up taking 3 years(and counting, since the tech update isn't finished at this point). how is it the subscriber's fault that the project was mismanaged? i'm pretty sure he also said somewhere that the tech update was going to happen eventually, with or without votes. and he didn't stream the entire process. he streamed an hour a day doing wall papers and misc backgrounds.

as someone who has a degree of knowledge on building a game, i understand that the code u did at the start of the development that is not written miserable can make you miserable in the long run. But its literally a powerpoint game, if u wanna update the art u can literally replace the sprites. Maybe rewriting i can understand, but abandoning a game youve worked on 8 years for that? that gotta be bad for morale. Also this kinda of game is pretty linear and dont have alternate choices.... like how i mean how complex can the code be? I mean all of that i can somewhat forgive if completely looks like a different game.... but it just slightly(very slightly) looks better? someone help me understand here, is tgere something im missing? what actually did DC say the reason for this update? from a dev perspective i know this cant be an easy choice

Hindsight 20/20 I doubt anyone would have voted for this knowing what was actually going to be wrought. I would argue that the streams kind of obfuscated the actual progress or lack there of that was actually making. I think he screwed over all the fans regardless of supporter status.

The biggest proof that not even DC's cocksuckers knew what was going to happen is that DC had to disable the comments on his post on Patreon lol.

What's the point of having new scenes, if many of them are still bizarre, have proportion flaws or are simply mirrored?

What's the point of the developer earning 6 or 30k if regardless of whether he makes a living with this game or not, he is unable to bring updates regularly.

Seriously, really, is anyone here truly naive enough to believe that he spent these 2 years working just on this beta???? It took him a maximum of 2 months, the rest he spent traveling and eating croassants, is anyone here really naive enough to believe that starting a new program, a new game, would be a more viable option than maintaining the current script? Who needs to defend the game?

If people are unhappy with it? Go outside and find some nice grass, sit on said grass, take a deep breath of fresh air and forget about the game entirely. Problem solved.

A lot of the game isn't playable for the time being, but all of the backgrounds are in widescreen as promised, including some new areas. Some of the original scenes have been reworked, with a few animations redone.

And the best part of it? It didn't cost me anything.

I've said this before that I would prefer to remain polite on these forums but seriously, the negativity is off the charts. It's like DC broke into all of your houses, ate all of your food and got your moms pregnant.

Trying to ridicule those who are upset with the product they received after such a long wait is unjustifiable; they have every right to complain. There is no defense whatsoever; you're all just trying to make the people with valid complaints look foolish.

On the other side, some of you are taking it way too personally. We all knew that the update has been a disaster for the last 18 months. You had your expectations way too high if you expected to have the game back to 100% content with bonus content; that was never happening in the first place.

But all in all, expecting people to just accept deception and move on is a pure loser attitude...
