The dev making unneeded variables for Patreon and public versions seems unlikely, it's just extra work if indeed there's different scenes as result of that....
The symbol/mark made by Zara is visable and could be removed locally. (MC can choose to cut it out). More important it has power by itself, since superhumans can draw it on themselves to be found and brought in by SIN...
We don't know how Charlie's mark works, but we do know she needs some time looking at MC and Ella asks a question to confirm it's done... We also see Charlie telling Cole things like "stay away from him" "not allowed to hurt him" before Cole gets hit by the taboo or geas.... So it's not unlikely the verbal part was completed in those scenes...
Most important we don't know if it's an invisable mark (like Danica's crosses) or even where it is... For all we know it can be attached to the mind like some hypnotic imprint or whatever, we're talking superhuman powers here after all....
Hey, would anyone happen to have a save around the mall visit where MCs identity gets exposed? I saved in one of the dead ends and now i cant roll back far enought

You can enable the console and input "jump day77" to get back to the start of that day.
To enable the console look for the file named "00console.rpy" that's inside the folder "common" inside the folder "renpy" and change the part where it says "config.console = False" to "config.console = True".
Played through the update a few times. Noticed some minor stuff. I'll save my thoughts on the bigger stuff for another post.
That form Ella arrived in when she met with Jared's father. Remember that asshole who was bothering Christie at her club? It's definitely his face Ella walked in with. Also, is it me or does Langdon's assistant looks a lot like the journalist who shows up at the wedding? Not the same, but very similar.
The MC copying the form of a narcissist like Lucius to his vocal satisfaction is lowkey impressive. If there was even the slightest imperfection, Lucius is the type to notice. He did not. Don't sleep on the MC's ability working just fine on Level 5s either. That light touch on "some of the captains" feels like some serious set up.
So, Jeff resigned from the police at an interesting time. Shortly after SIN makes its debut. Not suspicious at all.
If you expose Ella in that meeting, Zack stays quiet throughout the discussion. If you hold back, Zack asks you for more info.

Yup, that's her in both cases, not even a guess it's 100% certain... (okay i cheated, it's in the scripts)
Dunno why langdons assistant would matter for the story though, but we will see...
Ella is a known shapeshifter so her appearing in her other form makes sense, especially since we can assume Ella knew MC before he met her.... Close enough to automatically greet MC by his name the first time... (not his friends though)
So perhaps as his father or the shopkeeper?
Jeff disappearing is weird indeed. If Ella used his form for a while, she would have had access to Klaus, the security footage of MC's fight with the thugs, a hand in locking down the park and several more appearances around MC... (college,casino etc)
Not sure if it's a loyalty test, but it could be possible. Might just be a minor thing if they already knew everything then keeping or sharing might not affect anything, at least I think it wouldn't seeing as there might be a bigger choice in the upcoming update and this one might be a red herring, but I could be wrong also it just doesn't feel like a major choice yet. Oh well made two saves anyways.

Loyalty test or not, I don't intend on joining Ella anyway(unless it's forced by the game). They're all out of their minds if any of them think I'm giving up my superhuman harem for her. I'll be damned if I let her or anyone else cock block me when it's beginning to take form.

I think Ella already knowing us beforehand may not be that deep, she may just have seen us on the street and saw something inside the MC, thus she investigated him for a while, infiltrated his friend group the easiest way possible and made him eat the pill. Yeah, there's a posibility that she did other things to get close to us, sure. But i think she doesn't actually know everything there is to know about our MC, for example: I think his eyes being the way they are and the mistery of his mom's death are gonna play a big role later that Ella will not see coming.
Apart from that, I don't think we are gonna have to actually join one group or another, I think we will be freed from H.E.R.O someway and will go back to being a free agent, i don't see our MC as someone who likes being in an organization, he's too passive in his approach to things to the point where he'd rather just be by himself minding his bussines.
I mean, even if you are playing the hero route and always choosing the morally good choices he's still the type to watch the TV and see there's a monster roaming the street and be like "huh, interesting. Anyways, going to sleep" instead of trying to hunt that monster to save people (Or even to eat it and gain more power on a corruption path), until he runs into that monster one way or another.

Meh... Just stick with the people you trust and keep an eye on the rest... It's really no different to side with either Ella or HERO. Neither can be fully trusted. But you will need to survive, so until your fifth evolution you'll just have to go with the flow and keep your cards to yourself. Survive and grow, learn about the monsters goals before you reach 5th level...
There's not much choice anyway, Ella lets Charlie put a geas on you or Nico brings you back to HERO, most likely both....
The only real choice you have is taking the corruption path or not, and i'm not sure which side suits them better...

Ella had a list with the MC's friends names on it, and the MC wasn't at the top of the list. She gave Dave the pill before him, it's just that Dave didn't react well to the pill, so she knew he'd die or turn into a monster if he was infected.
Ella has a project and she needs multiple specialized people for it. The MC is just one piece of that puzzle.
The fact that the MC took well to infection and has grown the strongest the fastest is the reason why she's still using him for the project. It could have just as easily ended up as Jake, even though she likes Jake a whole lot less as an individual person.
