I have not seen or heard WeirdWorld give next week as a target window. He said on stream that initially he planned this update to be smaller and would have already been out by now but he kept getting ideas and adding to the content he wants to make for it. It should still take less than the last update(3 months 2 days) but maybe not by a lot which would mean it should release sometime before the end of September.

Ella being sentimental doesn't necessarily surprise me but for sure adds to the uncertainty of what to make of her for me as well. By the way i think a previous version of the game gave less power at the end of the update (or no power at all, i don't remember well) mybe that's the case, or you are not considering the monster drink, it gives a temporary boost of power just during the fight with Cole and is lost after. Or it's really a bug i guess.
