I enjoyed the card battling aspect so much that I ground out all the cards almost by accident with only 2 decks. One for Vanguard and one for Seraphim

When building a deck it would be nice to separate out cards by type (Engine, Instant, Attack) and by stat (Confidence, Skill, Trust) so that it's easier to focus deck building without memorizing the name of the cards.

I really want to be able to compare Skill Engines, for example, or see all the damages available to me when attacking Trust, or sort by Heat cost, or filter by rarity. Really anything to make it easier to deck build without having to scroll through a list and reread every card in the hopes I'm not forgetting anything.

I really enjoyed the challenge of the card game, and the ability to scale challenge and reward together. I just found it difficult to deck build with so few filter features.

I am eagerly awaiting the next release! I've enjoyed what exists right now and I'm excited to see where this goes.

*edit* And now I boot up the game and open the deckbuilder and notice the little button in the lower right that has all the functionality I was asking for. So I guess I'm just asking for the filtering to be more prominent or a 2nd button that says "Filter" or some other cure for my own oversight. */edit*
I can't make the icon more prominent without giving it a background that covers up part of the deckbuilder, and I'm not particularly fond of doing that. If you ever played Long Live the Princess, you'll know I'm a fan of minimalism when it comes to interfaces. Unless your experience becomes a recurring thing with players, I'm not too worried.

The filter was actually added recently and wasn't around in the first few versions. Implementing it was far from trivial and required an almost complete rewrite of the way cards are presented in the deckbuilder. Still, it was worth it, and the change came with the ability to sort cards by any metric I want (currently only alphabetical).

Performance on a low to mid range mobile (Galaxy A54 5G) was good. Did not notice any slowdown and stuttering in the animation or particle effects.

Glad to hear that. I've been testing the game extensively on Android, but my device is quite high-end and probably not representative of what most players will use to play.

The part that makes the engine struggle the most is when you open card pack, from what I can tell. The more high-rarity cards you pull in one booster, the more demanding the scene becomes. Ren'py is really not well-suited for particle effects.

Supermodel Update 6 - Damage Control

This release is available to backers at the $5 level and above at either my or pages. You can find the download links in this and this . The previous release ( / ) is now free to download for everyone.

Welcome to the sixth content update for Supermodel: Defenders of Desire. As promised, things are heating up significantly now. This update's changelog is brief, but it includes two brand-new story chapters with significant story connections and an actual sex scene between key story characters. It's been a long time coming, but we'll start seeing more of these in the time to come now that the foundation has been built.

In this update, Michael Sharpe finds himself questioning the intentions of those around him. Meanwhile, Anna Morgenstern visits ANBC to offer exclusive interviews with STALWART's superheroes, but she soon realizes that the situation is more challenging to control than she had anticipated.

Enjoy!

Changelog:
  • Added two new story chapters, including a sex scene.
  • "Always show story in scenarios" will no longer show story boxes twice the first time you play a scenario.
  • Minor text revisions.

So far enjoying the game and liking the models too, hell even the main male character look better than most of the male characters we tend to get in these games. Keep up the good work and the story is fantastic.

First wanted to skip this one because the tags were so meaningless, but saw the deck-builder in the screenshot - and I'll try it for this alone.
Good luck, dev! :coffee:

There are no saves. The game only uses the persistent file that Ren'py generates. If this file isn't being made for you, that means there's something wrong with your user folders somehow. Perhaps you don't have write access to your own user folder or there is already a Supermodel-folder in there that was created by another user (before a reinstall of Windows, for example).

There's not much I can do to help you with that since it's a Ren'py problem. You would have been unlikely to get saves working either. Just make sure that you know what to expect here. Supermodel saves automatically between chapters and matches. If you finish a chapter/match and exit the game, whatever you unlocked will still be unlocked. If this is not the case, you need to do some web searching for issues related to Ren'py and save folders.

The problem isn't Renpy, it's the structure of screens.rpy.
I'm no expert on this, but I've translated many games and manipulated screens a lot.

Wait, did you actually think that what I was saying was that I couldn't get saving and loading working at all? You're making things worse with your "solution". Besides, the user you responded to had an unrelated file corruption issue.

The lack of save/load in Supermodel is a design decision, not a limitation on my capabilities as a programmer. Because of the way this game has been designed around persistent states, you might cause serious problems with your game if you perform saving and loading within it, especially if you do so during card games (but also in the middle of story chapters sometimes).

Feel free to enable saving and loading if you think that will do anything good for this game (it won't), but don't ask me for help when the whole thing breaks, and by no means pretend like I didn't warn you.

Seems very interesting! Will this game eventually also feature pregnancy content like the previous game? Are their plans for breeding content?

It's not that kind of game or story, so no. I'm trying to rise above the typical adult game by weaving a story where the sexual content is meaningful and sex scenes aren't there without also contributing to the plot. Breeding would just be silly in this game's context.

Unlike LLtP, it's closer to a harem story, though.

I came back to check this after nearly a year and all I got was one Michael's confession scene, 2 photoshoot card battles and one very short Sybil story. Spent some old points to get few new cards, still have plenty left. Total play time about 10 minutes. Did I miss something obvious to progress further or does continuing from an old save make you miss content?

New chapters are unlocked as you finish other chapters, including card game scenarios. Look for chapters/scenarios that are missing the green checkmark and finish them.

There's a poll going on over at my Patreon and SubscribeStar about what I should focus on for the next few updates, available to all supporters. This update put me in the weird and unusual spot where I have a ton of option about where to focus next, so it was the ideal time to ask supporters for tips.

The game itself is actually really fun, but I suck at it. I can complete "Challenging" pretty easily and "Brutal" is kinda 60/40 against me, but I just get stomped whenever I try insane. I get swarmed by CC and lose.

You don't suck if you can't beat Insane. That difficulty isn't designed to be beaten and is more meant as an extreme challenge for the most dedicated of players. I designed it with the mindset of "I can't imagine how anyone could possibly beat this, but let's release it and see what happens". I also assume that future card additions might make things easier. Lo and behold, people have actually managed to beat Insane on most scenarios, but it's far from easy and can be hard to replicate. It's way beyond me.

Brutal is the difficulty where, if you can beat it regularly, you've probably mastered the game mechanics. Brutal is designed to be beatable, but not without vastly increasing the amount of cards available in the deckbuilder from what you start out with.

From my perspective, the game is mostly balanced around Challenging. Ideally, most players should be playing on that difficulty after a few matches to improve their decks.

Okay, then I feel a bit better. I can usually get to turn 6 or so on insane before I get swamped. I have no idea if my strategy is correct; I basically try to cycle through my deck as fast as possible. I can't figure out if coffee/energy drink buff is essentially, or useless. By discarding, playing, or attacking with every card and never holding them I find I can get through the entire deck fairly quickly, especially with the various card-drawing mechanics stacked up. I've built a few decks to use only skill/trust for example but the instant I get a bunch of confidence CC at the same time I fall behind and end up losing.

I'd love to know how anyone could beat it on insane, and what decks they used lol. It's a surprisingly enjoyable challenge.

There are a couple of people (and with a couple, I mean two) on my Discord server who have figured out strategies and shared them there. I'm not sure if any of them hang out here.
